3rd gen T4R W/ 4th gen T4R ARB bumper..?

i know ARB doesn't make a bumper for a 3rd gen T4R, if you want one you have to go with a 95-04 Tacoma bumper and a slight modification and it fits... (have done it so been down that road and all is well and all) but what i want to know is can you put a 4th gen T4R ARB bumper on a 3rd gen. the reason i ask, the 4th gen bumpers have more air flow, and have the spot for placement of fog lights. and lets face it, the bumper itself looks a lot sweeter than the one for a taco. now i know anything is possible with at bit of work(or a lot) im just wondering if anyone has done this or has seen one and knows what im up against. ive tried talking to a couple dealers and all they can tell me is that the frames and chassis are completely different. i have seen only pics of a 3rd gen with what looks like a 4th gen bumper and it looks sweet.

the first pic is of a 3rd gen with an ARB Sahara bumper but its the newer 4th gen T4R style like i want, i just want the ARB Bull Bar

the next pic is of the 3rd gen with the traditional tacoma ARB Bull Bar (just so everyone is clear on what im talking about)

and the last pic is of a 4th gen, with the 4th gen ARB Bull Bar like i want, you will notice the spots for fog lights on the outside and the openings in the middle for improved air flow.

thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

do this and cut the gay chrome hoop off and weld new tubes on ta-dah!
i have no idea how easy this is, i did the taco bumper and to be honest you'd probably have to weld stuff on the frame rails and make completely new mounting brackets, and that's not even taking into account the width difference if any between the 2 models, i don;t know jack about 4th gens so can;t really help on this, i suggest just finding the guy who did the one you wanted and talk to him, and then go from there.

the one is saw in person was doing like 45mph going the opposite direction as me and i couldn't turn around in time to catch him. yeah i could cut the top part of the Sahara bumper off, but i don't want to damage the outside of the bumper if i can avoid it. i don't care about the back side of the bumper up under the truck. and as far as width is concerned, i don't think there will be that much of a difference, i know the 4th gen is a bit wider, but so, that just means mu bumper will be bigger and have more protection. i also know the nose shape on the 4th gen is more rounded than the 3rd gens, so i might have to fab something to cover any gaps but oh well.

The 4th gen is quite a bit wider than a 3rd. I think it would look dumb with 2"+ of bumper hanging past your fenders. That to me would look a lot sillier than a taco ARB. Also the frame rails are wider on the 4th gen so the mounts would be a lot of work to modify for a 3rd gen. Why not just get the Sahara for the 3rd gen, that has the fog light cut-outs? Is the Sahara the same as the Prado?

From my understanding they no longer make the sahara one for 3rd gens. Something about it never fitting right or something.

I think it looks way better than the traditional one and doesn't age the truck as much.

bumpers are opinion pieces

I absolutely love my traditional arb bumper on my 4runner. I think it looks really good, plus i have beat it up and it still looks good. I'm sure Brian would agree with me that the Traditional ones look really nice....

But then again its all opinion.

I hate that sahara bar, Mostly because of that chrome center piece, and i dont like the newer 4th gen bumper either. I personally think that those fog light inserts look cheap.

I would just cut holes in the trad bumper and add some hella micro de fogs. Its easy, fits and will look good.

why doesn;t this guy just get a shrockworks or a custom job?

i love my arb, but at the same time if it didn't take six months for the shrockworks i would have gone with that, my rig was undrivable and i had to get it back on the road so i went with ARB.

Does the Tacoma ARB actually line up with the Limited T4R's fender flares, or is it narrower?

i don't have any real pics showing the width difference, but these should give you an idea, i would say it's far closer then a .5 inch on either side.

prado bumper matches fender flares on 3rd gen 4runner. i got mine from manafre MAF 4Rrunner ARB Bull Bar (part# 3421010)

if ur set on ARB, i think the prado is ur best bet for fitting it.
