Taco Whip Mod

I decided to do the full whip mod so I have to wait until Tuesday for the parts to come in. I went in and unplugged my motorized unit so I would have to listen to it in the mean time.

It was a huge pain in the ass accessing the motorized unit, have people that have done this removed the fender flair? I just kind of un bolted most of it and pulled it aside, that sucked though.

Have fun running the new antenna cable. I found that to be more of a pain than anything.

Do you mean you didn't run your antenna wire? And yeah not that hard just annoying, probably only cuz I cut my hand.

the wire wasn't that bad at all just take your time and remove the glovebox and the vent tube behind it, if you do that it should be clear and very easy in the routing of the wire.

So I know this has been covered many times before, but can you guys post the part numbers you ordered. I think there were some out of date number that have been posted elsewhere that I got, and I want to make sure to get the right ones (just looking for clarity).

I believe the 2 parts needed are the whip antenna, and a non-motorized antenna relay or something like that?

Glad to hear another person doing this mod.

i'll see if i can find my part number @ lunch, the receipt is in the truck, but you should only have to buy the tacoma ant. assy which comes with everything, and if you want a "black" whip for looks that is another part number.

the taco ant. assy comes with a ant. but it's chrome, so you have to order the black one separately.

i hope that clears thing up a bit, i'll post my part number details, i paid $120 to do this as i bought all of the parts through the dealer so i should have the numbers on the receipt.

If you want the Taco mod. You will need to buy the whole assembly (86300-35090)
That comes with a silver mast.

If you want a black mast "Like the Tacos have"
then you will have to buy (86309-aa040) also.

When I bought mine it was only about 39.00 or so..
But I did only buy the whole assembly (86300-35090) and not the
black mast also.

$10.00? Awesome! haha

Yeah my antenna assembly was around $50.00 but it was another like $40.00 for the Taco whip antenna. It does look way more bad a$$ but I don't know if its $40.00 bad a$$. It is what it is!

don't worry that's what i paid for mine, i was lazy didn't want to deal with a pull a part and just walked into the dealer. i still think it's worth the 110 bucks if you never have to replace the stupid motor again, lol

sure there are cheaper ways but it all comes down to time ='s money you either spend time or money, on this one i just spent the cash to make sure i got the right parts and didn't have to fool with anything.

Nope your right, I entered the numbers in wrong. I edited it after. So it was like $90 in parts and then $17 in tax + shipping. I'm not mathematician but the end result was $107. haha
