2002 seats fit in 1998?

Hey all, I'm thinking this should be a no brainer question, but you never know. The leather seats in my 98 limited are shot. The leather is in actual decent shape but the padding is toast - I feel like I'm sitting in a bowl! LOL

tossing around ideas on the cheap as much as possible, wondering if the seats from the 2002 would bolt right into my 98 without any modification.

Anybody know?

Thanks in advance folks - always love this forum!

cheapest thing would to do would be to simply replace the foam, you can pick this up for cheap remove the old covers and put in the new foam, i'm pretty sure you can it DYI with a pair of hog ring pliers, foam and cheese wire .

at least that's what i have done on every other car i have ever owned to replace the foam, these seats may be different i don't know as it's my 1st 4runner, also i don;t see any reason why those years of seats you listed wouldn't be interchangeable unless there was some slight change in '99 when they moved the cupholders to the center console

Yes, the seats will fit. I took seats from a '97 and put them in my '01 and took the seats from my '01 and put them in my sister's '96!

The brackets are slightly different but you will figure it out when you are putting them in. You will want to keep the brackets for the rears with the seats they are CURRENTLY on b/c the seats have holes that are specific..but they will mount to the actual 4Runner no problem. And the holes on the carpet that goes up the back of the seats might not line up exactly but you can make it work. Really easy to do.

Yeah, I wondered about re-stuffing them again, I just was not exactly sure how they come apart. Did you guys just use foam padding found at a fabric store or home depot??.

Also, how long did it take to add the foam in? 1/2 day of work? Sure seems like the cheapest and easiest idea for now.

Thanks guys.
