How am I supposed to have fun with this!!
All right, Just bought a 2001 Limited two weeks ago and just got to drive it in the snow today. Every time I tried to perform a power slide or take off fast the power was neutered by the traction control system to a point that it was no longer fun to drive. The question I have is that in the owners manual on page 118 Toyota shows a button that has "TRAC OFF" on it. Were can I get one and will the addition of this switch allow the vehicle to be used in a manor that allows the wheels to spin without engaging the traction control and anoying beeper? I must also wonder if this system would kill the added power of the TRD supercharger I am looking at buying. Any quality input wil be helpful.

Read this Andy Mod 2.0? especially post 9.
The "andy mod" turns the traction control off.
The traction control on the early 4runners (2001-2002) wasn't very good. Some have has some scary moments where they tried to cross traffic and the traction control just about shuts the engine down to a crawl.

You might find these links helpful.
The first is a "quick fix"
4wd ? for an 02 sport edt
and the second is a more permanent solution to this annoying problem

Thanks guys! It looks like I have some reading to do. Have any of you guys ever seen a switch on the dash like the one shown in the manual, or do you suppose that is only for different countries. I have looked at 50 or so and never seen a 2001 -02 with that switch there .

Never mind the above post as I have been educated in the posts describing the disableing of the cursed VSC system. Should be pretty kick arse with the supercharger.

I have done the andymod2.0/ bagel mod. Works awesome, it's just what you need.
Install is so easy, takes like 30 mins. This is the thread I used:
AndyMod 2.0. ABS Remains Active. - YotaTech Forums
I used a OEM fog light switch from the dealer, was like $8.

Done deal! Did the 2.0 mod last night and tore up the snow banks and icy side roads in Wisconsin. It workes great. Tomorrow I get the Toyota switch to make it all look original on the dash.

Awesome! I'm so glad that my 2000 doesn't have that BS electronic stuff on it, except ABS which HAS gotten me in trouble a few times. I still have to yank it out.
