Question Tacoma Bumper on my 4Runner??

Hey guys!

I haven't made a decision yet as to what bumper I'm going to get for my truck yet, (plated or 99+ 4Runner). However.......I was approached by a fellow club member here, who as a spare bumper from her 98 Taco that she would be willing to part with....maybe even free!

Does anyone know if the taco bumper will bolt up to my 4Runner??? Can I just buy the bumper brackets and be done with it?

As far as I know you just need new bumper brackets for the Tacoma bumper and its a direct swap.

Well!!! Looks like I'm gonna be getting the Tacoma bumper for FREE!!!! Still working out the pick-up day, but she's giving it away! I'm hoping to get it on this week sometime!

If it doesn't work out, I'm still going to look into my other options........

No not personally, I'm new to the 4Runner scene but I come from a Tacoma backround and one of the biggest front bumper mods on a Tacoma is a 00-02 4Runner front bumper. All that is needed to swap a 4Runner bumper to a Tacoma is the 4Runner bumper. They just drill a hole in their stock Tacoma brackets and its a direct swap from there.

Definately curious about this myself. I've been looking into what would be involved in doing a 96' T4R bumper swap. I like the look of the more "stubby nosed" front vs the "fat lip" look. But this def. sounds like a whole new twist that could come off looking really good.

The deal fell through, because the girl gave me the run around! I gave up on waiting for her, decided to just replace with the same piece...when funds allow.....sorry guys.

That sucks

I wonder if you can mix and match them up from different gens, or if you have to pretty much stick within the same gen as what you're trying to swap it to/from?
