I need some help from some stock 5-star wheel peeps.
Hey... anyone with stock 16" 5 star wheels wanna measure the inside diameter for me? I ask because I want to do a 231mm Tundra brake upgrade and I have Cragar soft 8s. I know the 5 stars will clear those brakes so a measurement will give me reference to know if they will fit with my Cragars or not. Otherwise I'll go with 199mms. 231s would be better though since my truck is heavy. I'm looking for the measurement from the inner edge to inner edge. Gracias.

You should check with the locals like James. See if you can try to put one of your wheels on his runner that already has the tundra breaks. Or maybe there is someone with tundra brakes that is willing to go and have a test fit done. You need also to keep in mind the width of the new brakes. It might clear the diameter, and rub on the inside of the face of the wheel.

Its not the diameter that is the problem. Its how much room you have from the hub to backside of the spokes. If you see the back of a a 3 spoke and a 5 spoke you will see what I mean.

Ok, I get it. I should be fine then since I have 1" wheel spacers, yeah?

I would imagine so because with the 97 wheels I believe a 5mm wheel spacer would make them work from what I heard. My spare is a stock 97 wheel that I had to grind down about 1 inch outside of the lug nut holes to make it rotate around the caliper. So if you appear to have room there like the 5 spoke wheel pictured you will be fine.

Thanks man, it looks like I'll have more than enough clearance. Hopefully Santa will bring me some 231mm calipers and rotors!

I don't know. The Cragars wouldn't quite fit even with my stock brakes so I'm running the 1" spacers anyways. They were only about 1/8" too close to the stock brakes so as long as the 231s are <7/8" wider from center to edge, I should be ok. How close are your calipers to the wheels now?

Im not sure, I guess Ill have to measure, I kinda wanted to get the brakes upgraded before my trip in April. I thought for sure I had to do the 199, but would love the extra stopping power of the 231s...
is it just out that I need? Cuz Ill get wheel spacers if I can make the 231s fit...

Yeah, as far as everybody is saying it's just the inside face of the wheel that's the issue so wheel spacers will take care of it.
