HID kit help (DDM)

So I am going to buy a drop in HID kit for my VW R32, I am getting them from DDMtuning

HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning

I was thinking about getting a kit for the 4runner also, while I was shopping there anyway.

I was thinking about going for a 35w, 4500k or lower, I dont have projector headlights and I am scared I will be that tool on the highway blinding everyone. I want to go alittle more yellow in that case so I wont feel like such a douche

Has anyone bought from here?

Do you know If I need the harness kit, error eliminator or adapter cables?

Thanks guys,
Steve

Post your HID pics if you have them, and reviews .. Also if it is a pain to install

I purchased the 35w 5000k because I wanted that pure white look. Very easy to install. HUGE improvement over my old silver stars.

Do you happen to know if I need any of those extra settings at the DDM website besides just filling out the 35w, 4500k?

Also, in our housings, does it spray everywhere or is it actually pretty good and contained.. not civic style??

Thanks, sorry about all the questions

I didn't need any of those extra things, I did get the hi and low for that little extra money but I kinda regret it because there isn't a big difference. Your probably better off getting the 5000k if you want that solid white color. I think 4500k might have a little yellow in it, not too sure. I have them in my 97 OEM housing planning to get 99+ OEM headlights soon.

1) I bought the DDM kit - 35w 6000k HID's about 6 months ago and love it. Have had no problems what so ever. Only down side is it took a while for them to ship (4ish weeks) b/c they have so many orders on hand.

2) You don't need any eliminator kits or adapter cables with their kit. Mine had everything I needed, PLUG N' PLAY

3) IMO, they work fine in stock housing. Some agree and disagree with me on this matter but I didn't do a thing to mine and they don't spray everywhere and I rarely get people who are flashing their brights back at me for them. If you wanna spend the extra money/time do the retrofit but I didn't think it was necessary so I didn't do it.

Did you get the Hi/Lo kit? I'm going to get the same thing (35w 6000K), but didn't know whether to get the hi/low or not.

haha thats funny you posted this i was just going to look it up. im actually within inches of pulling the trigger on a set for myself i've just been bent on which ones to get too. im thinking either 4500k or 5000k. you guys say the hi/low doesn't really make a difference? and do they all come with the casper shield too?

EDIT: and projectors will come when the money comes, i gotta get new lights there is no sense in buying 50 dollar silverstars that will burn out in 6 months

I am between 4500 and 5000 too.. I just dont want to be a d**k blinding people without a projector housing.. I am def. going 5000k in my R32 though because I just installed projector housings. I mean the way I see it, regardless It is a huge upgrade from stock.. soo now its just about the color really

H7 bulbs fit nicely for us?

I got the 35W 5000K and they are BRIGHT. They are a nice white with a slight hint of blue. The HI/LOW addition isn't much of a difference so I would say save the $20. it's just so you have low beams(regular) and high beams (brights). 55w are crazy bright, my friend got them in 6000K and they burn hotter so it's about the same color (tint) as mine, just alot brighter. There is a decent amount of glare however, but not enough to get me pulled over or flashed.

I hear ya there. I don't wanna be that guy either. From what i have read... (I've been reading on this till my eyes bleed!) the 4300K is what the Nissan's and Infinities have. but they have projectors which alters the color to be a little blue at different angles. The Prius has a non projector housing and it uses 4300K too. it looks like a good white, i also found this thread of someone who has the 4500K kit he has some pictures.
New HID pics

The hi/lo kit has a high beam pattern basically the light itself has a motor in to where it shifts from the casper shield, adjusting the light to aim a different pattern. Im pretty sure it works best with projectors. butve seen some pretty good light around with my searches.

Yeah, I went with the bi-xenon hi/lo. Go with the bi-xexon hi/lo because otherwise your hi beams won't be bright at all. They're a hell of a lot less bright than lo's if you don't get the bi kit. You'll regret it big time.

For our headlights definitely go with the 35 watt not the 55 watt. I just picked up the 55 watt 5,000k slim ballast from DDM for my driving lights and they are super bright. My shipping time was very fast. Probably 4-5 days and I'm across the country from them. I'm pretty picky about shipping and I felt that it was adequate. I had read where their shipping times were slow, but they get an A from me.

I would go with at least 5,000k. Maybe 6,000k.

As soon as my SilverStar Ultras burn out (going on two years I think) I'm going to pick up a 35w HID kit for my headlights. I'm not sure if I'll go with DDM again though. I think the VVME kit comes with these cut off brackets they help with glare a little. I was also a little turned off of DDM because one set of the wires doesn't have a plug, just male prongs. Not a huge deal though.

If you don't get the dual kit then you won't have a high beam. Some HID kits use a halogen bulb for the high beam so it is basically useless. And like 99Yota4 said, with some kits there isn't much difference in the low and high.

Overall I think the DDM kit is very good for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

hmmmm Clemson have you heard good things about the VVME and does it come with the life time warranty and one more question sorry, when your talking about the DDM kit not having a plug what kind of problem does that cause?
