Winter Salt Roads

hey guys and gals..

got a quick question..

I took the 4runner to Truckee today for some boarding with the family and I was wondering if anyone wash the bottom of the 4runner after coming back down hill..

Cause of all the salt that is spread across the roads, wouldn't that cause some rust issues if the salt isn't washed off immediately after boarding or snow activities?

or am I over thinking about it?

thanks.

I live in the mountains of Utah where they Salt the main roads all winter long. My 4Runner is mainly my winter vehicle. I wash it A LOT during the winter, paying particular attention to the undercarraige. The undercarraige of my '97 still looks very good with little if any rust.

There are some pictures of 4Runners on here, that have spent their lives where the roads are salted in the winter, and after years of neglect look pretty bad underneath. Some rear axles have even rusted to the point of developing gear oil leaks due to rust holes in the housing.

One trip to where they Salt the roads wouldn't be a big deal. But if it were me, I'd still wash all the Salt off anyway.
