Hmmm 2000 3.4L 4Runner wont start right after being turned off
Thing can sit for a week or 2 in single digit temps and starts fine. If I go get gas or run in someplace real quick it wont turn over at first. Cranks, wont turn over. If I wait a couple minutes it starts fine again. 108K miles and new Toyota battery last Dec.
I had a couple Jeep Cherokee XJs that did something similar. Id take short trip and turn off at gas station and come back no start. Only with the Jeeps it would have to sit for like 15 minutes. Ended up being the Crank Position Sensor on them I think.
Usually with the 4Runner if I get gas and start it just acts like you didnt hold the key long enough then it restarts on next turn. Today, I pulled into driveway after 30 mile hwy drive. About 2 minutes later I went to restart and cranked but no start. Then long crank. Then I sat for a minute or 2 and it was fine.
Any ideas? Its only happened 3 times and not a huge deal but Id like to catch it before it becomes something that strands me.

Mine used to do that too. I came to the conclusion that something was just getting hot. Trouble is, it fixed itself so I am of no help at all except to say maybe it'll fix itself. Sorry...
