Best option for replacing block on 96 V6? Lost compression on one of the cylinders

So my dad has a 96 t4r limited v6 with over 300k on the clock. he is absolutely against replacing the vehicle and wants to do whever he needs to keep on the road. The truck currently runs and drives fine but runs very rough and has lost power. He had a leakdown test done and he's losing compression on one of the cylinders. What is my/our best option for either getting a rebuilt motor/block etc? Where can they be had and what kind of price are we talking? Any input is always appreciated. Please just don't say something like "scrap the truck and get a new one"

Look around at your local bone yards, you can just drop in a used one for cheaper than having it rebuilt.

Bore it out and put bigger pistons in it.

If you did a leakdown test, is the air leaking past the rings or is it a top end issue (head gaskets or valves)? If the heads need a rebuild it's not a horrible job to yank them and drop them off at a machine shop for a week. However, if the block is fubar'd you're in for a whole different party.

Pull the heads and see what you're dealing with. Then you can decide if this engine is fixable or if you need to find a different engine.
