Denso o2 Sensor
I have a 99 2wd auto non-cali in need of new o2 sensors. Would the correct part I am looking for be Denso 234-4162 for both the in-front of cat sensor and the behind cat sensor? I've seen them on Amazon for $65 bucks but it says it is the wrong sensor for my vehicle.

From URD:
Quote:
1999 & 2000 49 State 2WD & 4WD auto V6; Front = 234-4162 1999 & 2000 49 State 2WD & 4WD auto V6; Rear = 234-4162
|
I have always found URD application data to be complete and reliable. Amazon, not so much.
(Note: the other engines also show 234-4162.)

Yup. That's the one you need (Denso 234-4162 Oxygen Sensor Air and Fuel Ratio Sensor). I bought the same one for my 98. Paid $61.57 for it with free shipping.

Just for sh!tz and giggles I checked the number for the air fuel ratio sensor (upstream O2 sensor) and it is indeed 234-4162. Googled it and called Autozone.

Just for your info, that's an O2 sensor both before and after on the 49-state. (Otherwise, it wouldn't be the same number.) A/F's were only used on Cali. '99-'00 and 50-state 2001+ and only before the cats. A/F's were only used on two-cat systems.
P.S. No biggie but you posted the same link and same quote I did in post #2.

Oops. It would probably help if I paid a little more attention. Sorry.
Thanks for the correction also.

So I received my Denso sensors and got the in front of Cat sensor replaced but when I went to remove the rear sensor I noticed the sensor wire was longer then the sensor wire on the replacement sensor. I guess I need the sensor made for the after cat with a longer wire. Would anyone know what that part number would be?

Hmmm, that's interesting. I mistakenly ordered the 4154 (rear for manual transmission) and I had the exact same problem. I cut off the tail from the old sensor and soldered it onto the new one to make an extension and it seems to work, though I still have a p0420, but I don't have an O2 code (171 I think?).
If you cut off the tail, I think you just match colors, and both blacks are ground, but you might also be able to match them by the order they come out of the sensor body.
Who has replaced this dumb sensor and not had this tail length issue? What PN did you order?

The Denso website confirms 234-4162.
Denso
Any chance the one in there was too long and the one you have is the right one? Or that you did not receive a 234-4162? Finally, are you sure you are 49-state? Lots of Cali. trucks were sold outside Cali. in '99, including mine.

Yes, both sensors had the same length pig tail wire. I don't think I have a Cali truck, I only have one Cat and my truck came from Gulf States Toyota distributor, which I think means it came from Japan to Houston.

One cat definitely means 49-state. The Japan-Houston thing means nothing by itself--they were shipping Cali. cars everywhere; they didn't all go to California first.
I think I wasn't clear. Are you sure it doesn't fit? I was thinking that the existing rear sensor may be a replacement that was not the exact correct part but they used it because it worked. So maybe the one in there is longer than it needs to be.
