Daystar Spacer Lift vs. Toytec spacers and OME 906
Hey guys. I know there are countless "which lift should I buy" threads, many of which don't end in the purchase of a lift, but I have a question about a combo I haven't really read about. I was looking at a cheap daystar spacer lift (2.5"). I like it because it is very cheap, gives a nice looking lift, a little extra clearance for tires, and doesn't require longer shocks. These are the things I want from a lift. However, I'm concerned about the sagging rate caused by spacers, especially in the rear. I'm thinking a decent solution might be OME 906's in the rear (wouldn't require new shocks, right?) and 2" spacers in the front. This would still be pretty cheap, and I'm thinking it would hold up and maybe even ride a little bit better in the rear. Thoughts? Any other suggestions?

If you cheap out now, you'll be paying more in the end. Spacers in the rear aren't so bad because they just sit in-between the coils and the truck - as opposed to the front where the spacer is installed into the strut assembly and preloads the coil resulting in more wear, sagging quickly, and a stiffer, worse ride since the spring is compressed more at rest. The Toytec spacer sits on top of the strut so it has a nicer ride. New shocks are a good idea regardless because they are old if they are stock and the spacers will max them out and overextend them when you flex which will limit your travel.

When you say that the toytec spacer sits on top of the strut rather than preloading the spring, is that true of the 2.5" spacer or just the top plate spacer?
If that's the case with the 2.5" spacer, I'm thinking toytec spacers in the front and 890's in the rear isn't bad for $280. Can the 2.5" spacers be installed w/o a spring compressor?

The Toytec spacer I was reffering to is to be used with lift coils like the OME 881s. You aren't going to get 2.5" with just the Toytec top spacer on top of your stock struts - more like .75" or less. Most of the Toytec lift comes from the 881 coils (~2"), the spacer just pushes them up to ~2.75-3" total.
The Daystars come with 2 spacers for each coil - one that goes on top and one that gets istalled inside the strut assy. Toytec makes a similar kit that comes with 2 spacers for each coils, but the results are the same as the Daystar kit - preloading the coil. The only difference is the Toytec spacers are aluminum and the Daystars are poly.
Trust me, you are really much better off saving your money and getting the OME 881s, top spacers, and 890s coils for the rear as well as all new shocks for ~$800 shipped. If you mess with your stock shocks and normal spacers, you'll want to change it out in a year or less. I did.

The kit you posted is a preload kit......and trust me....you don't want to go that route! I did, and within a year, I changed mine out to the setup I have now! (tundra/Lc lift).
