I recently had a set of tires put on and had a 4 wheel alignment as well. They told me they couldn't free the bolts on the drivers side lower control arm in order to align the wheel. I just got back from another shop that stated the same thing, even after heating it. The computer print out states that the "Toe" alignment is off, the rest of the adjustments were successful. The maximum range is .20 deg. The actual is .33 deg. What would your next step be to solving this problem, i was getting quotes of $500-$700
to cut them and replace the LCA.
I really would rather not spend that kind of money if i can help it. The truck does pull slightly and the steering wheel is not centered, will making that small adjustment solve this?
One other thing, i've always had a shimmy at highway speeds which i always attributed to my old tires. After replacing them I still have that problem. I paid for balancing so what am I missing? I remember reading somewhere that there are two kinds of balancing, hub-centric and lug-centric. Could this be the problem if it was balanced the wrong way or should i be looking at another cause. I went to Town Fair, what method do they use? thanx for any helpful input.
