What the heck is going on in Texas?
May be worth looking into a more sensitive alarm? I always park in the garage, but my buddies truck if you even walk past it, it will chirp at you.

sucks man, it seems like every week or two a thread like this pops up from either Texas or Oklahoma. Get some Budbuilts, I'll pretty much guarantee no one is going to steal my cat! Well, unless they have a ratcheting 9/16" box wrench in their pocket, a floor jack, and some spare time.

some bad guys cut a lot of them off brand new vehicles at a dealership in the Detroit are last year late one night ....
I pulled into a Nissan dealership in Maryland a few years ago (first thing in the morning), and there was a new 350Z up on 4 concrete blocks .... I asked the dealer making a bee line towards me if the wheels and tires were extra ..
he said .. oh NO ... NOT AGAIN .... and left to call the Cops

I don't know what the go for, but I believe most take them to scrap metal yards ... (don't know if the pay by the pound, or if it varies by the kind of metal, etc ...)

Correct me if I am wrong but they typically are after the platinum, the catalyst. I am sure there is also a black market fro cats seeing as they are so expensive.

I replaced my OEM cat last summer because it was rattling inside. I put it up on ebay and it got bought that same day for $180 by a recycler in CA.

Sorry about this happening, but this has been going for a long time, SUV/trucks are the easiest targets, but they will do cars too, are you really surprised someone stole a part that takes 5-10 minutes to remove and makes like $75 off of?

Looks like the cat will cost me $289 at Advance auto parts for a direct fit replacement part. Budbuilts might be the way to go to keep this from happening again.
Also so this after doing a search under "4runner Stolen Cat"
http://www.catclamp.com/.
Has any actually bought one of these?

Maybe I got an unusually good price, but my local muffler shop installed a Magnaflow for $270, total cost including parts and labor.
