For you guys running 33's on 16x7's

So after I installed my lift I've been looking for new tires. I'm running 31's right now and from what I'm finding 33's and 35's need at least a 16x7.5 or wider rim. So how are some of you guys running stock toyota rim without having problems running 33's? I love the stock toyota rims but it looks like the FJ cruiser rim is the only 17x8. If there are any other stock toyota rims with at least a 7.5" width please let me know. Or let me know of a 33" tire that can fit a 16x7 rim. Thanks

I run 285/75r16 mt's (32.8) on my stock rims, no issues. They wont be quite as tall on a 7in rim as they would be on a 8" rim.

Do you have any problems with the front tires rubbing the UCA's?

just because it say "recommended wheel width" does not mean it will not your 7" rim, just a greater chance under certain circumstances, that it will be prone to popping off the bead, not only that but Presta24 is right it will not be as tall, if you put the same size tire on a 7" and 8" rim the 7" will be shorter because it has to suck inwards to the bead on the rim making it shorter, but it the actual tire brand does have a little to do with the fitment, plus it would void any warranties on the tire if not put on the approved rim. But i guess what i am trying to say is that yes it will fit the 16x7" yota rims

Ya, I have a little rubbing on the UCA's and a little rubbing on the front fender liner. Very drivable though. I m just waiting to get the $$ for spacers, and haven't gotten around to moving the liners forward. A lot of guys on here run 33's on stock rims. I haven't heard of any probs.

The only problem you might run into is some shops (usually chain stores) won't mount a 285 or bigger to a 7" rim. As far as safety, I know people who have mounted 315/75 (35s) to stock 16x7s without problems and I have personally ran 285s on stock 7" wheels so you'll be fine. Another option is to run 255/85/16s which are ~33.5x10s. I like my 255s a lot and highly recommend them.

255/85 R16's here, articulate it a little bit at full lock and bingo you got rub. Ofcoarse I haven't modified any pinch welds or plastic or nothing to that sort yet and I just have a 3 inch spacer lift up front. Maxxis website claims 33.3 inches in diameter, 10.30 inches wide... all on a 7 inch wide wheel with 19/32
of tread depth?

Good choice, I would go with Maxxix Bighorns. several guys run em on here and like them. BF makes em too but they are more $$ and arent as wide as the BigHorns. I think I got a quote of like $175 a tire for the Big Horns, plus $120 for mount, balance, and alignment. There are also a few other companies that make that size in an at, or mt if you got the dough.

Thanks presta, nice rig you have yourself... Paid around $780 for my tires with free mounting and balancing. Second set of Bighorns I have purchased over the years and very pleased with them. On that ground clearance, I can clear a 5 gallon bucket with about 4 inches to spare in the center up front. Only if the rear end had that much clearance...

Not to split hairs but from what I understand the opposite is true...running the smaller width rim is called "the poor mans beadlock".
