Thumbs up My 2000 4Runner continues to impress. Tune up today

Bought my 2000 4Runner with 96K miles and it now has 111,000 miles. I had no records of tune up to go on so I was at dealer for oil change and asked them to change pugs and wires. They said wires are fine and could probably take it up to 200K before changing them. So I got new plugs and went ahead and had the Premium Fuel Injector Cleaning service done. My last tank before the tune up was 20.4 mpg so it was already running good. Should be even better now. Picked up a new air filter on the way home and dropped that in too. It amazes me how well its built. Every component works as new and the thing looks flawless inside and out still. Get compliments on it often. I just bought a new BMW 2 months ago and getting ready to take a 700 mile road trip. Im actually thinking of taking the Runna! Thats how much I like it. Will be nice to not have to worry about rock chips or crazy storms or anything in the War Wagon. Just had to share my appreciation for the 3rd Gen 4Runners!

I enjoy mine too. bought it new to me with 117k adn crappy street tires.
before I did anything I went on a road trip and got 23.9 mpg.
no not so much with the bigger tires, but still around town I get 16-18 if I drive nice.

I was surprised. just did plug wires and will do plugs soon once it stops snowing on me.

been a great rig so far and plan on diring it for many more miles to come.

Im surprised too. After having so many unibody Heeps I pretty much got 16mpg whethere it was 4.0 I6, 4.7 V8 or 5.7 V8. I obviously didnt buy a 4Runner for milage but @ 3.90 a galon it helps. My car gets about 26mpg but it also requires Premium. I had a 4th Gen and I like my 3rd Gen even more. Has more character.
