So I was planning on going with a Magnaflow 24 up until COB's thread. Now I'm looking for alternatives. Has anyone had experience with the Flowmaster 50? There is one close to me on craigslist and I'm thinking about picking it up.
I don't want it real loud or ricey at all. No drone at highway speeds either. Plus I want to go a cheaper route. Thanks.
I have had Flowmaster on all my vehicles and initially upon install, when getting on the pedal and through town you will definitely here it. The more broken in it got the highway cruising speed noise got considerably less.
I don't think you would want to get a used Flowmaster. My understanding is they only last 3 years before starting to deteriorate. I would consider getting a used Borla or TRD but not a flowmaster. A new one isn't that expensive anyways.

Yes, I have 3 years on my Flowmaster and I hope it keeps going fine. But I doubt it will last for another 3. Thats why I recommend just getting a new Flowmaster.

Dynomax and aeroturbine should be on your list to check out. I'm not a fan of flowmaster and my friends yukon had it for a while, he now runs a magnaflow.
Yeah the flowmaster was brand new and $50 so I thouhgt of just picking it up. I had a TRD exhaust on a 99 Tacoma years ago and it sounded amazing. I wish I could get one of those, but too expensive just for sound. I'm probably going to research some of the other options like Borla, Dynomax and Aerpturbine as well.
I pick up my Dynomax 20" (#17748 Super turbo) and hope to have it installed next week if you can wait. I can call you or something so you can hear it if you like.

Are you just trying to get my number? If you could post a youtube link that would be awesome. Thanks!
Exhaust will probably be done late summer or so, but I would pick something up if I find a good deal.
SCRunner12: suggest that when you do the exhaust you add a Tundra resonance silencer (used is fine) directly in line with the exhaust. On my setup it is 2" after the muffler.
I had a flowmaster and was VERY unhappy about the highway drone it caused in my cab. This issue is very common with Magflow and Flowmaster mufflers. You can correct for it by adding a resonance silencer. Even the TRD exhause has a built in silencer a few inches from the tip.
The Tundra part can be picked up dirt cheap at a junk yard. The one added to my exhaust is used and it was no problem. I have experience the before and after and it is like night and day.
With the resonance silencer the engine is still just as loud and beefy sounding the only change is "no highway drone/humm"
Also it will not restrict your airflow since it was designed for a bigger engine anyways.

Yeah I have seen you mention the resonance silencer a few times before. There is a tundra at the parts yard right by my work, so I will have to check it out. The drone is my biggest worry because I don't want to hear it all the way to work and on any trips. Thanks.
