My headlights are almost getting me killed at night.

Hey guys, recently i have had a problem when driving at night, with low beam on. When switching to high beam, or back to low beam or even when hitting the turn signals my lights will literally shut off completely and i have to jiggle the whole light control arm on the steering column for them to come back on. This has happened 4 times now.

I drive dark back roads every single day and i cant take a chance of this happening and them not coming back on at all. Please help if you have any ideas. Thanks.

If it helps, i can hear my solenoid for the lights click every time when switching from high to low. I tried listening with the truck off and its quite apparent that the solenoid is not bad.

Also, one more question for you guys with the B&M Coolers, did you notice that your tranny shifted any differently after the install?

Thanks!

Lights

What year is your 4runner? Any mods to lights, or recent mods involving the wiring ?
thanks

1998 runner, no mods done whatsoever. Totally stock truck wiring wise. This has been happening since i bought it but now it is more frequent.

sounds like the switch is going bad... you can replace it, im not sure how much it will cost bu i know its a spendy little bugger... hears the part number, 84140‑26140. never changed one, but i a similar issue with my 85 pickup. i just bought a good set of driving/fog lights and just use them as plan B... -i just wired them so they are on when ever the truck is on... so there is never any worries about forgetting to turn them on.
