Need help deciding

Hi All,

I have a 2000 V6 4x4 3.4 w/170,000 miles. I am the original owner, love it, and plan to keep it for many more years. It has never been off road and don't plan to take it off road (knock on wood ), it has always been serviced.

After reading numerous posts regarding the pink milkshake on this website (some very good input and detail...thanks to all), I have decided to do something to prevent the pink milkshake. I just can't decide which option. I am NOT going to do the work myself because I want a chance of it being done right

Here are my choices.

1) Have the Toyota Dealer install a new OEM radiator @ $486
2) Have Cottman Transmissions install a trans cooler @ $250

I know these prices seem high and I can do it cheaper myself but I am willing to pay the price. I am leaning toward the new radiator because I figure if I just do the cooler.... the radiator will still have 170k miles and more likely to fail.
I figure if I do the radiator I have fixed the problem for at least 100k more miles but of course the design is still bad.

I do not want to spend the money to do both.

Thanks for your opinions.

Just buy a radiator off the internet and have a smaller shop put it in. It will be way cheaper and the same materials as the dealership. Also maybe someone in Washington can meet up and put it in for some extra cash. I know you may not mind paying, but why pay if you can get it done cheaper for the same finished product?

Where are you in WA? I would be willing to help you with the trans cooler for free. I am sure I am not the only one.

I appreciate the offer but I just wouldn't feel good about putting someone out like that. I don't mind paying to have it done.

Thanks anyhow you are very generous,
