Time to replace shocks/struts. Good time to lift?
Hey all!
So, after some costly repairs at the mechanic (the whole rack and pinion, bushings, outer tie rods, all for about $1,000) the front and rear shocks/struts on my 97 limited need to be replaced sometime soon.
I've always wanted to add about 2-3" of lift to her with an OME lift, and I was wondering if it would be smart to do it while the shocks/struts are being replaced. I am happy with the OEM shocks/struts, but it looks like I would need longer shocks anyway.
The more I research the more it seems like I shouldn't dump the money into getting the shocks/struts replaced until I'm ready to just do a full on OME lift. Correct?
If I bought the OME kit from ToyTec, what would be a reasonable price for my mechanic to quote me to just install those instead? He quoted about $700 for the front and rear shocks and struts previously. I'm surprised that I'm even considering it, but my DIY senses get a little freaked out when dealing with bigger things like this.
Thanks in advance!
