Pre 99 cup holder alternatives? what you got

Ok, so for those of you with a 98 or earlier 3rd gen, besides a 99+ center console swap any good solutions to address the cup holder issue for the driver? Not such a big fan of the 175 degree cup of coffee at chest level. Nice when it falls out or splashes down on the sterio.
thanks

My best solution to this problem:

Travel Mugs – Stainless Steel Mug – AUTOSEAL® Mug – Contigo®

One of the best things I have ever bought. Other than my 4Runner with shi**y cupholders...

I actually turned my center console storage into the cup holders. It also help keeping me from throwing alot of crap in there. I cut to size three layers of MDF and then put that on the bottom of the compartment and then I got a rubber cup holder thing from a volkswagen routan and put that on top. It works pretty good and will hold fairly huge cups, no double gulps from 7-11 but idk any cup holders that would fit those.

I also disconnected the arms and screws for the lid. It just rests on top when I don't need the cup holders but when I do I just take the lid off and put it in passengers side seat pocket.

lol i guess i could elaborate. That's the beauty of it, it NEVER leaks. So i literally take a drink and put it on the passenger floor well or on the passenger seat if no one is with me. It can roll or move around all it wants and it wont spill a drop.
