"dust off" cans contain r134a, cheap a/c recharge?

Just got my 16 year old sons 1998 4Runner going again after being down for 6 months with a hurt motor. Went to Wal Mart to buy a can of r134a to recharge the a/c system. A can of 134a is almost $12 a can plus a $10 core charge on the can that must be returned within 90 days or you loose the $10 core charge. That would mean paying $22 for each can if a guy wanted to keep some extra cans at home, OUCH!

Now the fix. The other day my wife was using a dust can off to clean our computer key board. I looked at the $2 can of dust off and noticed it contained pure r134a as its propelant. Does anybody know if anyone has tried using these cans to recharge an a/c system and if so, how did they connect the cans to their a/c systems low side?

Just looking for a cheap r134a source since the automotive stuff is hitting stupid prices. Just like r12 did back in the day. Thanks for the input.

Wouldn't try it man. Not worth it. In using a simple cost/benefit analysis, the costs far outweigh the benefits, without a doubt. Just imagine explaining to your boss/friends why your car is in the shop!
