Well, sorry you are offended, but you asked for opinions.
Try to see your FIRST POST here as we see it. Some newb (assumed since you didn't introduce yourself and tell us your experience level) comes in saying he is going to do a big mod that is not very common (1" is common, 3" is not), because he wants to run bigger tires (common desire among mall crawlers and high school kids). Most of us will steer this person away from doing it because they are more than likely getting in over their head.
You said in your first post that you don't want to have to do "extra mods". This is why I assumed you didn't realize how many "extra mods" you will have to do to fit 2-3" of body lift instead of just the 1" lift.
Definitely use this site for research, but research isn't just asking questions that have been answered a million times. Give us a little information, say hi, introduce yourself. This isn't ask jeeves.
Since you gave some additional information in your second post, here is some more opinion. Most guys here will tell you that if you are looking to improve off road capability, then a BL with bigger tires isn't really going to help you (someone else already did in fact). You should first get a suspension lift, but don't believe me, here is a post from a guy that does off-roading for his job.
Sooo...any reason NOT to go 285's?
Anyway, do what you want, but if you tell us you are doing a 3" BL and big tires for off-road capability, then we are going to assume you are just trolling.
