Question 5vz connecting rod length?

I hate the fact of these engines having all cast iron parts for a bottom end. I don't really want to drop loads on LC engineering.

So if the connecting rods happen to be 5.676 inches; I know of a v6 that comes stock with forged connecting rods.

I know someone will say go to TTORA but I don't want to make another account on another forum.

I will look and see if I can find the length but remember you also need to match Piston Pin size and crank size as well as rod thickness. What motor are you looking at for the new rods to come from?

The Nissan VQ35DE it has the same pin end size of 22 mm and the same crank size of 2.165 inches. The VQ35DE is a 3.5l v6 it is 120cc bigger then the 5vz the boar is 95.5mm and the stroke is 81.4mm The 5vz has a boar of 93.5mm and a stroke of 82mm that is damn close. That engine can be found in the following.

2001–2004 Nissan Pathfinder (240 hp)
2001–2004 Infiniti QX4 (240 hp)
2002–2004 Infiniti I35 (255 hp)
2002–present Nissan Altima (240 to 270 hp)
2002–present Nissan Maxima (255 to 290 hp)
2003–2006 Nissan 350Z (287 to 300 hp)
2003–2004 Infiniti G35 (260 to 280 hp) all models
2005–2006 Infiniti G35 (280 hp) automatic transmission models
2005–2007 Infiniti G35 (298 hp) manual transmission models
2003–2008 Infiniti FX35 (275 hp)
2003–present Nissan Murano (Z50) (245 to 265 hp)
2004–present Nissan Quest (235 to 260 hp)
2006–2008 Infiniti M35 (275 hp)

That is a lot of engines and a lot of ricers upgrading to stronger parts so used ones should show up sooner or later. Eagle has H beam connecting rods for less then $500 for a set. LC engineering $1200 for their crossbeam connecting rods and $400 for the forged ones for the extra $50 to $75 I would go with the stronger H Beam rods from Eagle for the Nissan.

I know putting Nissan parts in a Toyota may sound like a sin but for the price of the stock ones that could be gotten used for cheap is a grate deal of awesome.

As for those stats just about every bit of information is there except the length of the connecting rod. I looked for hours and couldn't find a think on line. So if anyone has one laying around. The length measurement is from the center of the pin end to the center of the crank end.

every month to 2 months a 5vz or 2 shows up in one of the local junk yards, they are so rare in there I don't want to dig in just to get one connecting rod. but for under $300 its easier and more worth while to just take the entire engine. There are tuns of 3vz engines but still to much work. If i was going to dig into a 3vz for the forged crank then I wouldn't mind.

You could try looking over on the MR2 forums. Those guys may have torn into the 5vz when doing their swaps. To be honest, it is very very rare for someone to tare into a 5vz on an off road forum. Kind of if it aint broke dont fix it mentality with the 5vz. Its so reliable and along with current lack of performance other than the supper charger, that there really isnt a need to tare into like you would a high milaged domestic engine.
