2000 4runner wont start without clutch start cancle

Ust bought a 2000 4runner 5speed stick. It has 100000 on the stock clutch. When it gets hot and you stop you cant start it with the clutch in, it doesnt crank. With the clutch start cancle switch it starts right up in neutral. Is it time for a new clutch?

The clutch plate itself has nothing to do with the engine cranking so no, not time to replace the clutch because of that. Those are a different set of symptoms. How about the switch near the top of the clutch pedal bracket and just under and to the left of the linkage? That's where I'd start looking.

odd that this happened all of the sudden. did you recently adjust any of the clutch pedal components? if your clutch aint going to the floor thats prob your prob. look up under there, use your hand to depress clutch and watch the contact on the switch....if its fine, replace the switch i would think. . . .

Try turning the key in the off position and then try it. It happens to me too, I thought that it was supposed to do that.
