I never understood why anyone would do it on a 4-door, let alone and SUV. IMO, I would suicide the rear doors, shave all the handles, and get door poppers. It's also pretty expensive.....do you plan on building a show car? if so....there are pleanty of other things (sound, speed, etc.) that are more worth while.

P.S. I've seen lambo doors on a 350Z up close and personal, and they were pretty flimsy.

Well then, IMO for that kind of money a supercharger would feel much better when I blow away an X5 or ML.

Lets see some pictures when you get the doors.

well I still need to hear back to see if they make the kit for hte 99 4runner.....and even if they do i'm not to sure i'd buy it, or have it done anytime soon, i'm currently chasing a check engline light problem, and a coolant problem....after those 2 things are fixed I might get a paint job either black, or a specific yellow (the range rover yellow)

Personally I don't think the Lambo doors would look very good on a 4Runner. The purpose of them being on a Lamborgini is so you can still open the door if your next to a curb. I don't think we'll ever have that problem on our Runners, we have just a wee bit more ground clearance . I just think it would look ricey on a 4Runner but to each there own .

I've never handled them in person but I've also heard they were on the flimsy side.

Suicide doors on the rear would be pretty neat to see, even without the shaved handles and door poppers. I bet that would be a bit pricey though.

I'm sill waiting to see a camo or Army green 4Runner with a turret where the sunroof should be :gun:.

What about garage clearance

You wouldn't be able to open them in a garage would you?

How much would that cost? Hey, if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy, cool!

That is quite possibly the stupidest idea i have ever heard. That would be a complete waste of money. SO many better thing to do to a runner then wreck it like that.

If I remember correctly, there are a couple of things to consider about this type of mod:

1) Because the kit uses the stock locking mechanism, the door must be opened normally before you can push the doors up vertically.

2) Because of the size and shape of most doors (especially on our Runners) the swinging mechanism does not allow for the door to open up high enough for any normal sized passenger to get out. This was all evident on the 2000 Honda Civic, 2003 Hummer H2, and 2005 Ford Mustang that I saw these kits on.

Altogether this means that you will ultimately have to open the door normally anyways to get in and out of the car. Therefore, if you're not really making a show car, it is a bit of a waste.

Granted it might be cool to roll up to the valet at the club and open your doors lambo style -- but then you gotta try and slither out from beneath it, while not clocking your head on the bottom of it or falling on your duff -- man, that sure sounds like a lot of work just to get out of a car.

Trust me -- I've gone back and forth with this idea on my previous ride, and if you're not putting your car in a show or having it photographed, it's just really hard to justify the time and money needed.

Alright, enough of me and my :soapbox:

Interesting idea...Not something I would do myself, but hey, not everyone likes lift kits either! I get a charge out of different ideas, reguardless if I would do it to my rig.

Dice hit a prime point tho...those doors are small to begin with, at least for me, there is no way I could cram myself through one of those style openings!
