Personally, I think the 35w is enough. 55w is overkill.
4500k color (temp) is about the closest to natural white.

Sorry for so many questions.. You have all been super helpful!!
- What about the HID harness? I like the sound of "Premium" Dual Relay
- I have no idea what i'm reading when I look at the "Error Eliminator"
- I assume I don't need the adaptor cables?

-The HID harness bypass the "Plug & Play" factor by running power directly from the battery instead of the OEM H11 plug. It helps get power to the HID's quicker, but it's not needed.
-Error Eliminators are pretty much resistors. Some newer/euro cars will throw lighting error codes on the dash because HID's draw lower power than the halogens so the computer thinks you have no headlights. Same thing with LED error codes. Needs resistors to "trick" the system so it'll detect a normal power draw to indicate the lights are working or to stop hyper flashing that occurs.
-It should be plug n' play with the 4.5th gen 4Runners. Nothing extra needed but maybe zip ties or 3m mounting tape, depending on what the kit provides. Hardest part will be squeezing your hand behind the battery if you chose not to remove it to install the driver's side bulb.

You don't need it. My 07 (same as your 06) is just plug n' play. The truck won't throw any light codes.

I installed DDM HID kit in my 08 Limited a few years ago. I love them, definitely an upgrade. I didnt use the relay harness since the wattage seemed so low, who cares. My only problem was that in cold weather (say under 25 deg F) sometimes the bulbs wouldnt light. I would have to cycle the switch a few times.
I finally decided perhaps the ballasts were able to get the high current to fire the bulbs when all was very cold. I bought the single relay harness and installed it and have had no problems this winter. So, I advise using the relay harness. I connected to the battery posts screw terminals and ran the harness in a high temp loom above the radiator (under the plastic cover) to the passenger side ballast.
One thing to consider, installing HIDs on a vehicle that didnt have them originally is technically illegal (here in MA anyway, all over I think) but no yearly inspection guy has given me any problem.

The reason they are illegal is because It's a HID bulb in a halogen lamp assembly. Swap it out to a full projector/HID assembly and all will be good. The difference in the light that's output is night and day.

one thing to remember, if your even worried about it, is just because someone does a proper HID retrofit it still doesnt make it truly legal. just a couple things to consider is your modding a halogen headlight that may not hold up to the heat of HIDs ( OEM will, aftermarket maybe not) & its not self leveling. but imo, if you want/need HIDs, its the right way to go, and even tho the harness isnt needed for them to work, it will help the hids achieve theyre true potential, as will a set of OEM ballasts & better hid bulbs like phillips or osram. whatever you do, just aim them properly.

Plug n play as long as you get the correct base. Please confirm this first but you should be looking for the H11 bulb. The kit should come with ballasts as well that match the correct wattage for the bulbs. Your options are typically 35w or 55w with 55w having a little more output. Temp wise, I'm sure you've done your research. As cloud said, please take it out at night and aim against a wall to see if you need to adjust your headlight housings: GUIDE HERE
Long story short, if you buy an H11 kit with ballasts, yes, it's plug n play for your 4runner.

After playing around with aftermarket ballasts I ended up going with Denso OEM ballasts from Toyota off another model and retrofitted them into a semi breathable box to H11 based HID bulbs. Find that these tend to output much better. I'm pretty sure there are some great aftermarket brands out there.
How's the 55w output compared to 35w? Anyone have side by side comparisons?
