Mounting brackets?

Did you guys with the DDM Tuning kits order the available mounting brackets? And where did you mount your ballasts? I'm sure that it'll be easy enough to figure out once I get the kits, but just want to get some ideas.

Never heard of the mounting kit. I just used some heavy duty Velcro to hold them in place wherever I found room.

Don't buy them. They are are thin and flimsy. Double sided tape, Velcro or zip ties will suffice.

Ok "ssRoRo"... your thread has convinced me to order a couple of HID kits! I'm getting the DDM Tuning Raptor full-sized kits... 35w 3000k for the fogs and I think 35w 5000k (maybe 4500k) for the low beams.

Have you decided to go HID yet?

possible retrofit

i have asked this question and the majority have responded with this, if you want to spend money on headlights, then do the retrofit. about a month ago someone posted a group buy on retrofitting headlights. there were like 4 different options to pick from xenon or bi xenon. i am considering this as well but i have my mod priorities. AVN mapdisk, check, LED tails, check, back from deployment new tires and a lift, (you all will be seeing my next thread on tires and rims while i'm at sea) and then the headlights.

back to OP, there are some people that want to keep the halogen lights and say it works just fine, and very cheap. still i think most members would say do the HID with retrofit. just my observations

Also, 35 watt was suggested by KBCARSTUFF in lieu of 55watt. it does the same without getting as hot, can anyone else back that up?

55 watt will be brighter no doubt. They produce more heat, but I don't think it's enough to cause issues.

For best results, the retrofit is the way to go. However, this isn't practical for a lot of us, and it's much easier said than done. For under $40 and about 15 minutes of my time, I got an awesome upgrade in lighting that has been one of the best mods I've done. The retrofit is required for optimal performance, but even without it this is a great mod, especially for the cost of the ddm kits.

I think the opinion of retrofitting applies to 03-05's due to the reflector creating glare. However, it looks as though ssRoRo has an +06 that come with projectors so the concern of glare is lessened.

I'm definitely going to get a HID kit but I'm still reading a bit more into it. I'm thinking about 35w 3000k for fogs and 6000k for lows. I'm wondering what would cut through the snow the best.

I would definitely reccomend them DDM Tuning has sets for $45 and they have lifetime warranty i have a set of 8000k and has a blueish tint but they are really bright and i love them. I would definitely buy from them because they are cheap and are plug and play so they are easy to install.

I ended up ordering the "slim ballasts"... 3000k for the fogs and 5000k for the lows. Both are the 35-watt units.

Based on past experiences, I think that yellow is a better color for foggy or snowy conditions. It seems to "cut" through better because it seems that less white light is reflected back. Fog lights that I've had in the past, have always had lenses that diffuse the light. Our factory fogs have smooth, clear leanses, but I'm looking forward to seeing how these 3000k HIDs perform with their color and increased light output.

The yellow fogs will cut through the snow very well. When it would come down really heavy, I would just run my fogs. The headlights will just reflect off the snow flakes. Wouldn't hurt to run a defiant bar with some lightforces with yellow or blue filters ;)

I have 3000k fogs and in wet weather it works great. The yellow really makes objects "pop".
