Picking up my 06 4Runner today!!
After getting hit by a lady running a light, my 97 4Runner was totaled.. was pretty bummed since it was a great car and we have had it for 7 years.
We got a pretty good settlement from the insurance company so we decided to get another 4Runner although a little newer.
Found an 06 SR5 with 95k miles on it. Looks to be in mint condition with new tires for $14k with a 3k mile warranty. Will buy it unless I can find some deficiencies when I get to the dealership. Pretty exited about picking it up tonight!
Anyone know of an aftermarket Navigation system that would work for it?
Just realized its my first post on the forum.. sooo Hello! Been browsing for a while after taking over the 97 4Runner from my wife as the daily driver (she gets to drive the new car for some unknown reason)

My condolances on the demise of your 97. Congrats on the 06 tho. Youll love it. Check out the audio section and youll find all the nav info youre looking for.

Welcome!
I also had a 97 that was totaled before moving to the 4th gen. I do miss the 3rd gen now and then but the 4th gen is a great vehicle.
Any aftermarket navigation should work fine with the proper harness adapter. The only thing to look out for is there are two different adapters depending on if the 4Runner is JBL or standard. There are quite a few audio install threads on the forum to check out if you want to do the install yourself.
Good luck on the purchase!

Good luck with the purchase! If you look through the audio/electronics section of the forum there are some great install & info threads regarding aftermarket navigation systems.

Navi
I am sorry for your loss. Some cars just die, but when they are denied years of faithful service due to someone else behind a wheel, I would feel wronged, cheated to say the least.
Toyota used Eclipse for a while and then 2008-2010 they said they were going with ROSEN, but now they are back with Eclipse.
Crutchfield is an amazing website and all you need to know about your Toyota is with or without JBL, and with or without RDS. Once you find that out they can show you everything you want to put in your 4runner.

Over the summer I was in a very similar situation as you. I had a 96 4runner with 256k miles, it did not get wrecked but I was ready to move on. I traded it for a 2006 SR5 with 96k and paid 14.5k minus trade.
I am glad I moved to the 2006, drives much better, more room, more power, more mpg.

Just got home from picking it up!
Looks great.. paid $13.950. Turns out it was a Sport Edition.. not SR5
The ad said SR5 though, so I am pretty happy. Went over it pretty good under the floodlight and with a flashlight, but I know that's not really the ideal conditions.
Will look some more tomorrow, but could not find anything wrong with it. Only thing I noticed is that half of the trip computer or whatever it's called is dead. Found a thread detailing how to get it fix so I might just get the parts for a DIY fix. Otherwise I am thrilled!
Looking forward to being a part of the forum!
Found the link for the advertisement.. has some pics in there.

looking at the ad it looks like its in great shape! it also brings back many memories of 3 months ago when I was looking for a 4th gen to buy. LOL i looked at about 5 trucks before getting my '03 which I love. Anyone else notice that it doesn't look like it has a spoiler? Seems pretty unusual for the Sport Edition. Does it have something to do with it being a 4x2 model? I thought i remember reading something like that. Anyway, nice truck you're definitely gonna love it.

Around our area there's a lot of Sports minus the spoiler, mine included sadly .
