Mechman 240 amp Alternator install after the stock one went out at 139k.

Old one out through the bottom on the v8 seems the easiest way. Thankfully I have a lift to use in the shop. Did have to move some lines and loosen the power steering pump.

New one in

SMD fuse block installed on oem fuse block lid. Only using one of the spots right now but this will give me more access points for later on. All 0 gauge knukoncepts OFC wire that’s crimped and soldered, wrapped in snake skin and then heat shrinked for the big 3. And you can see my battery terminals from Sky high car audio.

Here’s the after charging voltage cold and after warmed up.

And here it is after the gm diode was put in

Overall it wasn’t a hard install. Just time consuming waiting on the alternator to get here but that gave me enough time to run the wires for the big 3. I did use a half inch smaller belt to account for the mechmans slightly smaller pulley. This should last me very well in the future if I decide to add some power hungry additions like subs or winch etc etc.

The original owner of my 4R likely never left the pavement with hers. I think she only bought a 4WD because it just happened to be on the lot.

Now I'm showing it what nature smells like.

Found a Minimum Maintenance Road over the weekend in Northern MN. Nothing too crazy, but got the Hearing Aid a little dusty and dirty. It is hard to tell it's dirty because this color hides everything!

I have a feeling this was the first time this truck has been off the pavement. It was way too clean when I bought it to have been off-road. I can even tell that the previous owner never hauled a trailer either, the paint was in perfect condition inside the hitch.

85,000 miles and she is just getting started

I replaced the mode door actuator. Not really as bad as I expected. Also replaced the driver's door check. Now I don't have to listen to that annoying buzzing from the dash or that awful sound every time I put my window down.

I did the front portion of the Daystar lift and while I was at it I replaced both cv axles. Got tired and it was getting too late to get it aligned so I decided to get up early tomorrow and do the rear then take it straight to the alignment shop. The job wasn't all that bad but my age and my Rhematoid Artiritis made it kinda rough on me. The worst part for me was getting the two lower ball joint bolts lined up while pulling down on the spindle to get the bolts started. I finally used a bungee cord to hold the spindle/ upper control arm down then all I had to do was maneuver it around till the bolt lined up with the hole. I spent between 3.5 and 4 hours to do the spacer lift and both axles. Also refilled the front diff for what I lost when the axles were out. It's definitely higher in the front now. Can't wait to do the rear and finally have it level.

Finally got a few things done yesterday. Purchased it on 4/20 this year so have been gathering parts for suspension and maintenance as well as audio. Wednesday I swapped out the original spark plugs (155k) on them, oil change, you all convinced me to do the HCF delete, AFE pro dry is in the mail and swapped in my new head unit, a pioneer dmh-2660. I tried the headlight restoration and it seemed to turn out well, but I can't get the 'orange peel' out. Tried 3k wet sand, do I try 2k or 1k? Eibach Pro kit is in the living room and going in in two weeks(mechanic has a lot of business I guess). Deciding on wheels and tires now, so any suggestions I'll listen same with maintenance things I may have over looked.

Bagged the old girl

I had some issues when going over speed bumps and those water drainage dips in the road. My rear end always seemed to bottom out with a good thud. I decided, instead of heavier springs, to try the airbags. At only $88, it was a quick and easy job. I am running them at 12 PSI and it does not bottom anymore. Took the truck 4 wheeling in Colorado, doing green to Red trails. It did great and had no issues whatsoever in the rear.
I do run a set of drawers in the back and keep them pretty full of recovery/camping stuff, so some additional weight. Also run a rooftop tent sometimes, so wanted some help in the rear.
