I took my ‘07 Ltd V8 for a Woolwax treatment today. I was very happy that I found no structural frame rust when I bought this 4Runner last month, just some rust at the welds. The cradle under the radiator and the rear bumper were pretty flaky but cleaned up enough to give me confidence they will last with this treatment applied.
I compared the frame’s condition to my buddy’s 2012 Tacoma and they were equal...even though his truck is 5 years newer with 100k less miles. And I am very happy with this product. Woolwax seems to be the answer to prolonging the life of my beloved ‘07. BTW, they had to cut the spare tire cable to remove it to spray that area. I tried to lower the spare yesterday but she was froze up solid. I bent the chintzy lowering tool and the lowering crank mechanism just wouldn’t budge. I’m just going to leave the spare in the garage. I have roadside assistance with my car insurance and will definitely use it should I be unfortunate enough to get a flat.

haven't done it yet but I'm looking to replace this hose in the picture... I'm not 100% sure what it is, but I believe it's coolant bypass hose... guessing I should get OEM clamps as well? thanks in advance if anyone can confirm.

Crank oil seal
Changed yesterday. A first for me.
Not difficult, No need to remove radiator, just fan and shroud.
Used pulley holder (black piece made for toyota. Amazon) lock with ratchet and pipe extension to the garage floor and breaker bar + pipe extension to crank bolt.
Followed with pulley extractor ( the one you screw to pulley, no legs).
No seal installer or Lg socket, so greased seal spring and gently tapped till flush. OEM.
Good cleaning and inspection of related surrounding parts. Fan and clutch now looking like new.
First fue miles no oil leak so far.
3 hours. Less than a 100$ on tools (holder &extractor) and appropriate care to all parts bolts torque etc. Worth it!
Thanks T4R and Ytube.

Cannot help you with hose sorry, but I think you need new serpentine belt

+1 on the belt. The grooves are very deep, signs of a worn belt

Wasn't the external part smooth when you installed it?

Yes, it was a new belt. Just wondering how it could wear so quickly. I've put less than 3k miles on it since I put the belt on.

I was thinking the same about the belt needing replacing when I first looked at your photo and then I noticed it still had the writing on the belt so I though it could be relatively new...but it shouldn't be that rough looking on the smooth side, check all the smooth pulleys to see how rough they are, they should be very smooth, if they're rough that's what has caused the wear on the belt and you need to replaced the pulley/s along with the belt, the smooth side of the belt should show very little wear even with higher moderate miles on it.
If the pulleys are smooth as they should be, I don't know how you could of but maybe you routed the belt incorrectly and the smooth side is riding on some of the grooved pulleys

As AuSeeker said must be related to the pulleys. But the reason I changed the crankshaft oil seal is because I bought from amazon an OEM serpentine belt that was fake Toyota. Shredded to pieces after 1000 miles, wrap several very tight strips between the crank pulley and the engine and the oil drip started.

For serp belts, You cant do better than rockauto on price. Amazon is full of fake products. I dont buy anything from amazon anymore. Your pulleys might need changing. Again, rockauto has them all for cheap and a warranty.

Got some goodies from the junkyard the other day: got a good condition steering wheel, the plastic ignition trim ring, and scored a second row weathertech! Also got a clean power steering reservoir since I couldn't see through mine.
While I was replacing the power steering reservoir, I replaced some cracking hoses and flushed the power steering following this writeup:
DIY: Power Steering Flush (4th gen specific)
Here's part numbers for the hoses, I just used whatever was cheapest on Rock Auto:
PS Reservoir to PS Pump: Sunsong 3404929
PS Reservoir to PS Pump
PS Reservoir to hardline: Sunsong 3402985
PS Reservoir to Hardline
Not pictured, I also replaced my blower motor since it was squeaking a ton. Glad I was able to get a lot done!

Replaced the rear diff fluid today. The old stuff looked dark but otherwise ok. Glad the fill & drain plugs came out easily.
