I would recommend against purchasing coils with 100k miles on them. If they're $20 each then maybe, otherwise you simply won't be getting value for money. They are probably not performing as good as you are hoping for.

I have located some FJ Coils from an 07 FJ Cruiser that have 100k miles on them. So my question is how used is too used when it comes to the FJ coils and would these be a good investment to install having 100k miles on them. Sorry for my ignorance as I am very new to this and don't want to buy something that I might need to replace after a couple years when I could have purchased new.

Another question I have is what is the part # for the specific bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks that everybody uses? I have done a few different searches and feel like I am finding different options for my 03 4Runner. Are people using the FJ Cruiser setup for the bilstein 5100 or just searching for the shocks that would fit their specific vehicle, in my case a 2003 2wd SR5.

Thanks in advance for your time.
Go to Down South Motorsports and put in your info. Cheapest place, great customer service.

Thanks techno, thankfully I had a plan B as well. I found some brand new FJ Cruiser - Old Man Emu OME 895 Coil Rear Springs on craigslist that say they provide a 2in rear lift, which I believe other drivers have used along with the bilstein 5100 in this forum. Is that safe to say you can pair these 2 together? The seller wants 200$ for the rear pair, is that a good deal?

895 coils are good, but they stiffen up the ride since they are designed for carrying constant heavy loads. Not a bad thing, just be aware, some people want lift and stock feel. Yes, you can run them with billies.
$200 on CL is a ripoff. $150 max assuming you'd pick them up.
or pay for shipping from somewhere like this

New the OME 895's are $168 or thereabouts - some places have free shipping. If you are in Phoenix, check out SierraExpeditions. No affiliation, I used to wheel with the guy who runs it and he has good prices.

Thanks guys! They don't have to be OME but I am having a difficult time finding stock coils online in my area that are worth purchasing. I found some decently priced FJ coils online just by searching. What are your thoughts on the Moog coil springs? I have read that they do not fit sometimes. But any suggestions are welcome for FJ coil springs I just need to make sure they will work on my 03. The moogs I found were between 50-70$ and I am not planning on doing heavy offroading since I have a 2wd so I am mainly doing fj coils for a little added lift and nicer ride than stock.

@iicky You have a 2wd and live in Arizona, you could pre-runner it out with front lift spindles and long travel rear for some desert fun.

Xreas questions

I'm planning on removing my xreas system from my 04 Sport Edition v6 2wd. Is the process simple, as in a pull out the old and plug in new? Is there any associated hardware I will need to purchase get it done? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's very simple, but you have to do all 4 shocks at once when losing the XREAS because they are connected with a hydraulic house, a brake line really. I just cut mine off after unbolting the shocks since it was junk at that point.

I've got some stock OEM coils I pulled off my 04 V8 with about 110,000. I'm asking $40 for all 4 if interested. I didn't read entire thread so if this way off base I apologize.

that the 5100s are under dampened for the spring rate of the 895s. Maybe this changes over time..and i hope it does b/c the 5100/895 ride could be better. I've read that the OE 5th gen rear coils result in 1.5 to 2.0" rear lift and the rides better..

Can you tell suspension options by Vin?

Looking into buying a nice 2003 V8 Limited but the current owner is clueless as to what type of rear suspension it has. I don't want to drive all the way out there to realize it has RAS... does anyone know if there's anyway to look up the vehicle by Vin # to see what factory suspension it came with? Already checked CarFax with no dice!
