Thanks. So this would be the adjustable 5100/(2)884 combo on the front, and bilstein shocks/OME (2)895e springs in rear?

Would the 5100s be best on stock height or .85 for level ride? And Keep reading about a spacer for driver side to deal with gas tank.. is this really noticeable?

No, I am not that concerned with it and my crude measurements indicate that there is a difference between the driver's and passenger's sides. It doesn't affect the ride or handling, only appearance and most people would never even notice.

My setup uses Eibach Springs sold by Wheeler's out of Oregon (T1 coils for the front and T12 springs in back). My truck still has some rake and my crude measurements indicate that a 0.85 setting would come pretty close to leveling it front to back. I believe it will settle some though and I have no idea what that will be until I drive it for awhile. I honestly don't mind the rake I have now (which is much less than it was with stock XREAS) and probably won't move the snap ring off the lowest setting. I think running it there puts the least amount of stress on the shocks, although the Bilsteins have been proven to be very reliable even at the highest setting of 2.5".

As for a driver's side spacer, I did not install that because to me, it doesn't matter. I know some owner's want the truck perfectly level and have added this. Some have used FJ springs, which use a different one for the driver's side that is slightly taller, I believe. They are marked to distinguish the difference.

Bottom line is that these are great trucks and each owner has many options to make their vehicle unique. Best vehicle I have ever owned!

1/4" isn't much at all and if you can barely see it then it's certainly not a big deal. One thing I added while I was under there was to replace all the sway bar bushings with Energy urethane bushings. It's a cheap modification and helps stability a little bit. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you're looking to tighten the handling up even more.

Any reason for the Eibachs over the OMEs other than price?

Dont mind a little rake, but do you think setting at 0.85 would cause problems?

Would it be better to go with the 2885 front coil and leave bilsteins at 0?

Thanks

I went with the Toytec/Eibach 521600 springs from Wheelers. Its set at the bottom on 5100's and I have the V8, there is still a little bit of rake. Not as bad as the factory but its still there. In the future when I get a bumper I will put in a 1/2" top spacer and possibly go up to the .85 clip, maybe. I just don't like the idea of pre loading springs for lift. But thats just me.

If you want it level I would get a 1/2 to 3/4" top spacer with the Toytec/Eibach 112-620 or the 521-600. I have the OME 2895 and they pair up really nice, the ride is great.

My '04 sport (4L) needs new suspension. Has Daystar kit and leaky xreas - the ride sucks and it clanks when you hit bumps. The truck also doesn't have a front sway bar.

My thoughts -
2.5-3" OME kit. Is getting the upper control arms very necessary?

Bilstein 5100s, stock springs (150k), keep rear spacer/ditch the front?

5100s, FJ springs, keep rear spacer/ditch the front? Upper control arms really necessary?

I like the height I'm at, wouldn't mind more, but I don't want an alignment/driving nightmare. I drive on dirt/mud/snow, but I don't wheel or anything serious. Been through the alignment nightmares with lowered cars before and would really like to avoid that. I'm most interested in just 'setting it, and forgetting it.'

I'm assuming I'll be replacing bushings and things as the ride is currently atrocious. Timeframe is some time next week, hopefully. Also getting exhaust leaks fixed and dealing with the ABS/VSC lights....again.

I appreciate any tips. I just want the best bang for my buck, with low maintenance. Thanks.

Cool. Thanks for the detailed info. Can get a pretty good deal on the components that match your setup and I think with the spacer added it will be just what Im looking for.

best route for 3in lift

I've owned my 2004 sr5 for a year now and I've had a 3in spacer lift on there front for about 3 months that I just threw in there when I was replacing both front wheel bearings and had the front end apart. However, Im looking to do the full suspension lift the right way in a month or two and was thinking about doing the 5100 all around ($375 shipped) and moog 2007 fj coils all around ($104 shipped from rock auto)
Is this a good way to get the full 3in out of it and install it with a buddy who knows what he's doing? I've read so much info on here and i think this is what everyone meant. Also would there be any extra parts needed as well?
P.S. sorry for beating the dead horse on this topic

Lightbulb not a lift question

Guys I was reading here an older thread extolling the springs of the 4th Gen Sport model. Can some of you tell me what IS the diff between 06-09 Sport Model Springs and same year SR5 Springs? And in the Sport model, are the springs different in 4WD model vs 2WD? I am not interested in Lift, but in 2-lane backroad ride quality, which is awful with Stock SR5. Rock 'n Roll..
thx

[Edit: nevermind - I think most of what I'm wondering is in this excellent thread Coil Rates: OEM 4runner, OEM FJ, Moog, & Others ]

What are you trying to get from the lift? Just appearance? Want to actually offroad?

This is fine for just appearance. If you want to offroad a lot, go a full shock/spring setup all around. It's way better than a spacer setup. But if you're not trying to reinvent the wheel, this will do.
