Hello.

V8 - Lined up crank pulley mark to peg to right on 0. Looked at marks on camshafts. All lined up properly. Replaced everything without moving anything. Lined up marks on new belt to marks on cams. Installed tensioner. Rotated crank pulley 360. No marks on cam sprockets of course. Rotated crank another 360. Marks on cam sprockets lined up on left, but looked like off one tooth on right. Also reference lines on belt were missing.

Long story shot. I screwed things up. I don't know where I'm at. What is the best way to get everything lined up in the correct sequence again? I don't know if cams are 360 off or not.

4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

The first post recommends a 3/2 lift to fit 275/70/17 tires. I’m not sure I’m going to end up with 3” up front. Prob more like 2.25” - 2.5”. It’s going to be hard to tell how much actual lift over stock I’ve gained because my truck is on original non-XREAS suspension. My current hub to fender measurements are roughly 19” front and 20.5” rear. I haven’t installed my lift yet due to shipping delays. I’m sure when I do I’ll have gained 3” but I’m not sure that will be 3” over stock.

Below are details on what I have, expect the tires. The tires are where I need help.

- 6112 with 650lb spring to handle the added weight from the V8

- Total Chaos UCAs

- 5160s with Icon 2” rear spring

- Trail wheels (17x7.5 +15 offset)

- BFG 275/70/17 KO2s

I’m wondering how well this is all going to fit. I’m fine pushing the fender liner forward, trimming the bumper, and removing the mud flaps. I’m am trying to avoid a BMC. Anyone have a similar setup?

Got the 5100 lift kit from bilsteinlifts.com with the 1.75" B12 rear coils but I think I'm going to try staying with stock front coils. Thinking about setting the front 5100s to 1.75" to keep the front close to level or small rake. Any thoughts on this?

Should end up with slight rake once it settles

Postin this in a couple areas to get advice before I can make my own thread. Any advice appreciated!

Problem: Getting bad rubbing during turns on rear of front wheel well and on body mounts. Want to clear rubbing and make this thing at least somewhat capable on and offroad. Red area in pic.

Setup:
2006 4Runner V8 Limited 4WD
Coastal Steel front bumper (~120lbs I think)
Bilstein 5100's front (2.5" lift) and rear (unsure of lift setting)
Bilstein coils / springs in the back (B12 heavy springs)
OEM coils / springs up front
285/70/17 tires (32.8" diameter)
FJ 17" Wheels with 1.25" Spidertrax spacers
JBA High Caster Upper Control Arms

Questions: What can fix this?

Would OME 886 coils in front on 0" Bilsteins achieve more lift to help this? I went to alignment shop and asked for as close to 4° caster as they could give me but they basically lowered them both I'm at 3.3°L/2.77°R and getting pretty bad rubbing. Was hoping to make this thing at least somewhat capable offroad, and at least driveable on the road lol. What else can I do, or do I just need new / smaller tires?

Got the Bilstien 5100s with OME 855 2” Medium coils, if I set the shocks to the highest setting at 2.5” and still pair them with the coils will it mess up my suspension?

I doubt changing any coils will fix the rubbing and you already did the casters setting so I would say your best option is a BMC.

I ran 285's for years with no rubbing running with a 0 offset wheel but once I changed over to a -10 offset it rub at the same area at full turns so I had a SPC specialty alignment shop set my casters and it helped but stilled need s a BMC to be fully capable off road.

Body mount chop is probably your only option.

2003 Limited Suspension - What should I buy?

Hey, I have a 2003 v8 limited 4.7L with the xreas system. Because of the xreas, my normal mechanic is afraid to mess with the suspension even though I've suggested they could just remove it and replace the suspension like a normal truck. I've called around and another shop was spooked by the xreas too.

They seem to feel better about me buying the suspension parts and coming in just asking for them installed. I don't know what I'm doing, but I want to buy the right stuff. I do a fair amount of offroading, but I also do a lot of towing a 16 foot trailer so I don't want to lift the 4runner and affect towing. I'd like to do this as cheaply as possible, so I don't need the fanciest option.

I've heard Bilstein 5100s could be a good option, although I called Bilstein and told them I had the xreas and they said they don't recommend their products then!

Anyway, has anyone replaced the suspension recently who has or knows my setup? Could you post links to what I should buy? Everybody talks about FJ coils in the back, but would that raise it?

Sorry for asking a question that maybe has been asked too much, but I appreciate any help I can get!
