Here's a thread with more info on 4th gen and 887s, might help. I originally went with Moog FJ springs and 5100s which gave me a small lift and leveled me out but am already swapping for OME/Superflex springs. It's a disease, haha...

No plans to add bumpers or other built on weight although I will be carrying gear around on a frequent basis. Was originally intending on putting a Fox 2.0 setup on this vehicle but decided to go with a more budget friendly option since this isn't the cleanest example to start out with.

Right now my intended combo is-

Bilstein 5100 struts & OME 884 coils out front
Bilstein 5100 shocks & OME 895E coils in the rear

Will be using a Metal Tech kit and OEM isolators to rid myself of the air suspension in the rear. Would like to avoid putting aftermarket UCA's on it but if it comes down to it I will have to go for them. Anyone see any issues with pairing up the combo's above? Of course OME recommends using their shocks/struts with their coils but seems like more people pair them with the Bilsteins.
Check for the posts by Bluesky - he has been through this and has it pretty well laid out.

Good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. Suspension post is linked in my sig & happy to answer any questions the best I can (though my coils are Tacoma fronts/FJ rears).

Wheel and Tire Help

Hello, I have a 2005 Sport 4x4 V8 and I am going to put a Dobinsons lift kit on it; this will yield about 2 inches of lift in the front with a steel bumper (Planning on getting a coastal offroad high clearance front bumper) and 3/4 of an inch in the rear. I am fitting 265/70 R17 BFG KO2s with a little rubbing on the front left fender when I am turning all the way to the left on the stock suspension. What are the biggest tires I can fit without rubbing if I have the high clearance bumper with the lift I am planning on doing?

Also I heard that your wheels get sucked in a little when you lift the vehicle. I am getting some stealth custom stealth 6 rims with -10 inches of offset and I would also like my tires to stick out by an inch or 2. What size wheel spacers would I need to achieve this and would I need different size spacers for the front and rear wheels due to the different amounts of lift in the front and rear? Thanks

Anyone kind enough to look over my plan and make sure I'm not missing anything? I'm driving 400 miles one way to visit a buddy and install some parts. Would really like to make sure I don't get stuck waiting on additional parts.

Installing a Dobinsons kit. 3" front / 2.5" Progressive Rear

I'm also installing SPC UCAs as well as extended swaybar links and mounting 255/75R17 KO2s. Is there anything else that might hinder me on the drive back?

Quick 5100 related question:

I have all new parts (minus the used springs) for my front FJ/5100 setup. I bought new top hats and want to put everything together before I rip out the old setup currently on the truck.

How can I make sure that I install everything in the right orientation (top mount and shock)? Since I'm putting everything together without the guidance of seeing how the old struts was assembled?

Would the 884/895e combo with 5100s work for my 2007 V6? Some say it's fine, some say it'll have a negative rake. I've already ordered the parts so I'd love to hear from ya'll so i can maybe change my order! Thanks in advance.

So I installed the front suspension from a 4wd TRD Offroad Tacoma several years ago with 3/8" topout spacers, and I've always had a pretty bad drivers side lean. The ride is good though, and I really have no desire to buy a new suspension. What is the easiest way to resolve this? Could I swap out the drivers side top out spacer with a larger one?

Angry 885 w/bilstein 5100 install help

Have a 2006 4runner V6. Installing OME 885 w/Bilstein 5100. Having trouble installing the steering knuckle bolts on the LCA. When i'm jacking up the LCA to align the steering knuckle bolts it completely lifts the 4runner off the jack stand I still have about 3 inches to go before the LCA reaches the steering. I have two jackstands in the front. I tried jackstands on the frame in the rear since I thought the rear suspension was compressing with the tires on the ground. No luck. Any suggestions? Thanks. Feels like I should just get some other springs.

Looking for some advice on a lift kit for my new 4runner

This is the lift kit I am considering for my 05 limited 4runner. My truck is mostly a daily driver but I live in the desert so it will definitely see some off road too. Any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Replying to myself because I feel like an idiot. I noticed in some videos my struts looked different. Having bought this 4runner last year and it being my first SUV I didn't realize the previous owner(s) installed a 2 inch lift. I thought it was stock. Still had stock shocks/spring. Just the strut mount/2" rubber spacer was after market. After spending $100 for an auto shop to compress my springs...i decompressed them with the no spring compressor method, installed new strut mounts, and the bilstein 5100/ome885 were easily installed. So I wasted $100 and some time but I learned a lesson.

I'm rethinking my suspension choices again...

I already have the 884/895E combo, but now wondering if I should have gone with the 885/895 combo instead to make sure I can fit 285's on her.

Should have no issues assuming you are on stock rims. If running aftermarket rims or wheel spacers you might.
