Hey 4th Gen Gurus,
I am looking to change my stock suspension to a suspension with a lift. 90% street driving and load carrying. What are my options that wont break the bank, reminder, this is also a 2003 with 215000 miles.

Any help will be appreciated.

Don’t know where else to post this - does anybody know what part this is?

I can’t seem to post a pic, but it’s the third boot connected to a front wheel. So the CV axle is double-sided, with a boot on each side; what’s the part called that the third boot is on?

The cheapest way to go would be a spacer lift.

I used to have the Daystar 2.5”/1.5” kit on my 2004. I sold it a year ago (the spacer kit) after I upgraded to new shocks and springs. I think the price has gone up since I bought it, but I paid only ~$139 for it.

On my 2004, the third boot is on the inner tie rod where it attaches to the steering rack.

Mevotech Upper Control arms (Rebranded SPC)

Just picked up some Mevotech UCAs and they seem to be rebranded SPC UCAs! Saved some money and my 04 SR5 will get a lift soon!! $411.58 on RockAuto vs $695ish for SPC!

4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

so i am also wanting to lift/level my v8 03, it has xreas that i want to delete. my friend has a 21 trd off road that he lifted when it was basically new, so i can get his front struts with springs and rear shocks with rear coil springs for cheap.

would this be a good option to put on my 03? i know there is slight mod on rear shock install , the shocks and struts are tokico. i read alot about people using tacoma setups with the bilstiens, just havnt seen many using 5th gen tokico??

hoping to end up with 1.5-2" front lift.

TIA !!

Do you have both driver and passenger on the 5th clip in your pics? Or is it 5th on the driver side and 3rd for passenger? Thanks in advance!

I have both clips set on 5. I'm not paying any attention to driver side lean etc. and i'm happy with the 5 setting overall.

So I did my lift a couple weeks back - Bilstein 5100s and OMEs all around and SPC UCAs. Today I noticed a grey grease/sludge splatter from the suspension areas (happened both on driver and passenger sides)

Any ideas what this is? Big problem, small problem? (2004 V8 Limited)

Edit: Did a little investigating - seems like I tore the CV axle boots, does that seem right? Would purchasing these from CVJ and replacing them fix the issue?

Edit 2: If I'm on the right track diagnosing this as a CV axle boot issue, can I order these and just replace the boot?, following a tutorial like this?

The boots always break when you do the lift. You need to drop the front diff. Get a kit. I changed both axles, boots were broken.

Definitely overlooked the diff drop. Went ahead and got some ordered. Thanks!

I set the front to 2.5 in and the rear is set to 2 it about leveled out my 4Runner but it’s great and easy to install. It only cost me about $500 for it and then took me all day to install because I did run into some issues but none with the suspension. So all in all easy install and it didn’t hurt the pocket too much. Also I did just move across country driving my 4Runner and she handled fine. You will need longer sway bar end links though. And if you decide to go higher then you’ll also need new UCAs.

What would be the max tire setup here? I’m wanting to do just this with TRD pro wheels and was wanting 275/70/17. Possible?

Rear Suspension option

Hi Y'All
I have a 2004 4runner ltd. I changed the front shocks with FJ suspension and rear with Bilsteins 5100 and FJ coils, with day star leveling kit.
Now I have a leveled stance. I am satisfied with the ride. But, I don't like it leveled. I want a little rake. I want the Rear to be a bit higher than front, not too high but just a little
Now, What are my options?
I have Toytec RCC2.0P coils. Should I remove FJ coils and day star spacer and install these toytec coils? Would I be able to achieve the rake or I have to use day star spacer with toytec coils?
I will upload a picture of my runner soon...
Thanks

Yes, replacing them with CVJ boots will fix the issue. Just fair warning, it's quite straight forward, but an extremely messy job.

You don't need a diff drop. Diff drops actually don't do much/anything at all on our 4th gens.
