No rubbing or trimming!!!

After hours of reading and research I went up to Discount Tire and asked kindly if I could swap the 6 month old 265/70/17 Defenders to the E Load 285/70/17 Defender 2s.

After the 265 install I had to move the fender line up a smidge.

Jumping to 285/70s ZERO RUBBING. Even at full lock.

IÂ’m so surprised and happy. Obv these are not knobby off-road tires. Guessing thatÂ’s the big difference.

HereÂ’s my setup.

OME/Bilstein 5100 - replacing XRES (3 in lift roughly)
JBA UCAs
285/70/17 Michelin Defender 2s

Inaugural post, can't start a thread yet.

Purchasing an '08 Driftwood Pearl SR5 4x4 with around 170k on the odo. No X-REAS afaik. Currently on 16" wheels. Some dunlop tires. Upgrading from a '02 Suburban LT 1500 with 4x4 that is currently running LT265/70R17 BFG KO2 on 17" upgraded Chevy wheels. I purchased new from Costco 2 summers ago. Live in CA, driving home to WA state to pick up the new rig and drop off the old one with my parents.

Main goal is to fit these KO2s on the runner I'm getting. It's bone stock with a 2" tow hitch. And I'm getting a smoking deal from a family friend. I'll drop photos in its own thread at some point. I only have a couple days before I drive it back to CA where I live. And not a ton of cash.

My plan to accomplish this is:

1. Install daystar 2.5/1.5" spacer lift/leveling kit on 4runner at home/garage/driveway. Neighbor/dad have all tools.
2. Tire shop > remove BFG KO2s from Chevy wheels, swap onto some 2016 17" Tacoma TRD Sport wheels I found for $200 locally. Mount and alignment. *** I heard brake calipers affect fitment for these specific wheels. As far as I know they are the smaller ones on this SR5.
3. Suburban gets the Firestones from the TRD wheels mounted to the 17" Chevy rims at tire shop. Take home, mount these in garage/driveway. Sub will become resto/project car for dad.

I'm wondering should this alleviate potential rubbing on the fender liner/underneath. Or will I need spacers (Spidertrax) and if so what size? I prefer to keep the body of the truck as stock as possible with no trimming. The runner will also receive my Yakima towers, cross bars, slimshady awning plus a 2-bike Yakima tray on the tow hitch. Maybe some pod lights on the hood if we have time. Mostly cosmetic stuff with some utility. Once I get it back home in CA I plan to eventually replace/augment the spacer with a more complete and performance-oriented suspension lift and will be consulting the helpful souls on this forum.

Thoughts?
