I have to replace the passenger side view mirror on my 2006 4Runner - the entire assembly, not the mirror. I can purchase an OEM Toyota side view mirror assembly for $190 or a CIPA OE direct replacement for about half the cost...
Does anyone have experience with the CIPA OE side view mirror and whether it looks exactly like the Toyota OEM? Dimensions, fit, finish, etc...
I got an aftermarket mirror from Keystone that is branded 'Polyway' and is total junk. It looks like the OE mirror, but it shakes constantly at speed. I thought it was defective, and swapped it for a new one that shakes just as bad. I paid about $55 for it compared to $150-$175 from an online dealer (not sure why one side is more expensive than the other). If I had to do it again, I would have spent the extra money on an OE mirror or found a used one.
I don't know if CIPA uses the same mirrors as Keystone, it would certainly ask where they get their mirror from. If it says 'Made in Taiwan', I would stay away from it.
