soft brake pedal

anybody else find the brake pedal crazy soft on their 4th gen? I've had mine for about three years now, and i've always found it soft and spongy. I had the entire system blead this summer and it seemed to help for a short time, but now I find it just as soft as ever. what gives?

any suggestions on how to get a firmer pedal?

With no key in, pump the brakes atleast a minimum of 40, then check the fluid level and see if u need fluid, seems like u might need some, the resevoir says to do this before adding fluid.

I'm not sure crazy soft but compared to the Acura MDX, I feel it's pretty soft.

I don't have a problem with it being too soft per se (coming from a BMW 3 series) but it does make a sshh sound every time I step on the brake (i.e. sounds like the rubber boot from the brake linkage to master cylinder rubbing. There is also a slight "vacuum" sound). Does anyone else know what I am talking about?

The vacuum sound is most likely the booster which has the job of making your pedal easier to push.

You can check your pedal by pumping the breaks a few times with the engine shut off. That will bleed off the booster and will allow you to feel unassisted pedal feel. It should be solid once the booster bleeds down. If it still feels spongy or goes the floor then you have hydraulic issues such as air in the lines or other issues.

Did you ever find a remedy to the soft pedal? Mine feels really soft. Not like other vehicles I drive. I don't think there is air in the system, but Im considering going to the dealer to have them bleed it to see if it makes a difference.

I would suggest checking out this thread. I added the SS lines and it made a huge difference firming it up.
