The Key Fob with buttons MUST GO!
When I lock my 4r and put the key in my pocket sometimes the key bumps the button and unlocks the truck.
If I put my hand in my pocket to get some change the button gets pushed.
When I grab my keys and have something else in my hand I can hear the 4r beep as I have again pushed the buttons.
B]Doesn't someone make a key with the buttons built-in like the Lexus?[/B]

That is Smartaccess key fob. It allows you to open the door and drive the car without touching your key in your pocket.
With this, you don't have to accidently touch your button on your remote to have the ddor opened. nice feature.

SWEET! However I would not pay the extra $Ks to have it. I'd save the money for cool mods.

As long as you have locked it once and don't open a door if you accidentally unlock it with the key fob, the 4Runner will lock its doors again after about 30 seconds. I agree its annoying when you hit the button by mistake but the 4Runner knows better and keeps itself secure at least.

I don't think KMX is referring to SmartAccess, as that would be hard to retrofit to the car. But the key, where the keyhead holds all the buttons in it.
Here's a pic I found through Google.
I know the Land Cruiser also uses this Key, but I believe it's still cut like a Toyota key, not like the Reverse cut Lexus keys. Am I right on that??
Anyways, anyone able check if we could get the Land cruiser key programmed for the 4runner?

It does unlock, but if the doors aren't open it automatically locks itself again. not sure if that is the way with the stock alarm, but with the optional alarm from yota, that is the way

The keyless entry with or w/o the R3200 alarm is set to lock after 30 seconds (default) but can be changed to 60 seconds.

I did a lot of research on this topic. I had an IS300 that used a similar key. I wanted to have a similar setup in my 4runner. I talked to a couple of dealers and they said that it could not be done. They specifically referenced the FCC ID on the back of the key fob. When ordering duplicat key fobs you must match the FCC ID and then program your automobile to recognize the fob.
I googled my FCC ID and could only find 4Runner replacement fobs and some Scion replacement fobs. I could not find a Remote Key that matched the FCC ID.
If anyone has any information I would love to know if what I was told was correct. I do know the HILUX has a key similar to the picture posted above.

How can you adjust the time before it locks?
My Runner does that too me all the time too.
I get right too it, and "lock"
