Looks much better Ben, good spacing between the bar and bumper now.

Mounted the upper brackets. This fits very well now with the spacers. Anyone with questions feel free to contact me.

Smile Police style Pushbar

Hello, Ben

Thanks for the nice pics of your pushbar, I stumbled on this thread when i was looking for this style pushbar for my 2007 4runner. I ordered it and it should arrive today. There was another person on this message that was putting the pushbar on his 07 4runner( Fvalentin) I wonder if he got it installed ok? Hopefully I will just have to make the same adjustments you did. I will be mounting a removable rack to it for carrying my Hang Gliders. I just got the Yakima roof rail grab setup and it should work great once I get the pushbar installed. Thanks again for the pics and information sharing.

Tom

Hi Ben!
Great job with the write-up and pictures. I just installed the same pushbar and, I have to say, your instructions were more helpful than the paper that came with the pushbar. I've been looking at police-style pushbars for my 05 4runner for a long time and was even looking at how to do custom installation of a Setina pushbar (but didn't). Thanx Ben!
Now to look for lights!

Great, glad to help. I am also on the look out for lights, but don't want to go with round off road lights as they look a bit too bulky. I am interested in getting a 24" LED light bar, but don't really want to spend $400. Post a pic when you decide or mount anything up. I would love a bit of input.

Push Bar Installed

Hey Ben,

Just got the push bar installed and loving the look, Thanks for the great info and pics. It only took about an hour with a ten inch bas**** file to get the holes modified to fit. Used your spacing ideas and it all went smooth. But can you give me some hints on the top brackets??? Its like a complete mystery to me how they go on???? I am going to use this pushbar as a receiver to mount a removable rack to carry my hang gliders. Can't wait to take it up the mountain. Thanks again, Cheers Tom

Hi Tom,

I too was scratching my head to figure this one out. This is how I figured it out... pop out the plastic "rivet" that holds the rubber splash guard behind the grill next to the headlight. The short end of the bracket is bolted there and the bracket just follows the contours of the "step" between the top of the bumper and the grill. Before bolting the bracket on, I took the bracket to the vise and bent the mounting hole to the better match the angle of the hole where the plastic rivet was. I also bent the long end of the bracket to meet up with the hole on the push bar. Hopefully, this makes sense. I'll try to get some pictures up.

J.

Yeah I had the same issues with the upper brackets. They definitely need to be adjusted to fit correctly. I would also recommend loosening the bottom bolts to get its straight and allow enough clearance to open and close the hood. This will also eliminate any shaking and provide more stability. Here is the pic of my upper bracket.

Just received the push bar...

Going to try to put it on today, maybe tomorrow. I grabbed 5/16x1.25 washers for spacing the bracket, instead of 5/16x1.5 washers. Will that be too narrow or will it be okay? thanks for writing this up and adding so much to it guys. Hopefully it goes smoothly now that so many people have done it. haha

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but does anyone know if these things are still made/available? I can’t seem to track one down.

I've only seen them on the secondary marketplace, that's how I found the one I have.
