Mixing Limited and Sport Wheels

Looking for some board advice here.

I have an '07 Sport with the standard 17" wheels. I am looking to buy a set of Limited (18" rims and tires). Tire size on both are stock (Limited= 265/60/18 and Sport = 265/65/17).

My issue is that the people selling Limited wheels typically are only selling 4, not 5, wheels. SO, my question is can I keep the Sport 17" rim as the spare while using the 4 Limited wheels?

Given the difference in tire sizes it appears that the difference in full wheel/tire diameter is roughly 1/10 of an inch.

Has anyone followed this model with success?

Steel wheels are usually pretty cheap. Seems a waste to keep an alloy under the truck, they get badly corroded and don't really save any significant weight, and are targets for thieves. You might be able to sell all five for enough extra to get a steel wheel and tire. Steel might require different lugnuts, but those are also cheap.

You will be fine to keep your 17" spare. The overall diameter is very close. The only time you would have issue is if you have a 4wd and you have a greater than 1" difference front to back.
