No power after 2500 RPM's. RPMs surging

Over the weekend I loaded up my quads to hit Pismo and as I tried to get on the freeway, I looked down to see that I was doing 40 with my foot to the floor and the RPMs were surging from 2500 to 2000. I have just shy of 100k on an 07 SR5. Extremely pissed I went home and rushed to the parts store.

I ran the codes and got a misfire code, 2 o2 sensor codes and something else.

I Pulled the plugs, got some MAFS cleaner and started tearing into it. Just as I was about to put the MAFS back in I noticed the bulb inside was still black. I sprayed the hell out of it and wiped it good, hit the insides with a qtip really good and slapped everything back together and it was good to go.

Hopefully this helps someone out. If you haven't cleaned your MAF sensor out and youre approaching 100k, I would say do it with a tune up. Its only two screws

Do you have an aftermarket intake? Just wondering, cuz I pulled my MAF and it looked clean. Sprayed it anyways, but was expecting it to be dirtier w/ 105k miles.

Sounds like a classic case of an over-oiled filter.

I've had a K&N drop-in for about 50,000 miles (also had K&N on my 350z for 89,000 miles). Cleaned the filter two or three times, light on the oil. Didn't have any problems, but cleaned the MAF anyways during a recent oil change. It wasn't black and I felt no difference whatsoever.

Luck of the draw maybe? Glad to hear things got better.

this happened to me after i changed my plugs with some cheapo autozone spark plugs, when i put it in 4wd , my dash would light up like a christmas tree and the rpms would surge like crazy around 1500, i would have no power at all, once i replaced the plugs all problems went away.
