Headlight moisture

Hi,

So my new to me 2004 has one headlight that has moisture in it. I have been using the search tool and found some good info.

I plan on pulling the bulbs and trying to dry it out with a hairdryer, as perhaps the bulbs were not seated properly allowing water in.

If that doenst work, has anyone had success locating and repairing the leak with epoxy or silicone?

If this isnt an option I found that amazon has a complete set for $85 bucks:

http://www.amazon.com/Toyota-4Runner...ar=1&carId=001

Thanks,
~Corey

I recently blacked my headlights out (which involves removing the lens from the headlight housing) and developed a leak in one of them. My method of fixing it is going to be removing the lens again and then reinstalling it with silicone.

Happened to me as well...what i did was i laid the headlight down on a towel on the floor...i got my shop-vac and i switched it from suck to blow and this one attachments fit literally perfectly into the light bulb hole so i left it there for a good 30-40 mins.. i got distracted... (check it every 10 mins or so to dump water out of it). Then i got clear silicon just like the stuff you would use to calk a bathroom i think and went over the whole headlamp while pushing them together with little pressure. (they were already together, but just to make sure to cover-holes/any extra spaces). Its been holding up great now! no moisture even after a week straight of rain.

Well last night i used the wife's hair dryer to dry it out. I actually created at little apparatus to pipe the hot air in one hole and it would exhaust through the other. I let it dry for about 2 hours then took the shop vac and evacuated the warm (moist) air. It didnt fog up.....until this morning.

Are the replacement headlights from amazon, in the origianal post good? I think the guy says they are OE, and for $85 bucks that doesnt sound to bad.

Thanks

Take the high beam bulb out in order to allow the moisture out. Drive around with your headlights on, heating up the air inside the healight. This should help drive the moisture out of the unit.
