Has anyone actually fixed their cracked dash?

Found a crack in the dash. From some searches it seems like a common issue, but I haven't really found any posts that talk about the cracks being fixed.

Are people either leaving them alone or replacing the dash?

My 04 is cracked, as is my buddies 05. We've talked about using some kind of glue stuff to stick it back together, but I'm worried I'll just make it worse.

I'm in as well, mine is cracked in two separate spots. Neither is noticeable so I've just left it alone, would like a fix though.

It bothers me as well, I've got a bunch all over the place in all shapes and sizes. I figured it was from the stereo install guys being rough when they put her back together, but guess I'm not the only one!

mine has a small crack but my main concern with the dash board is the awful creaking noise in warmer weather. i am considering replacing it down the road...maybe an opportunity for a group buy?

Although mine hasn't cracked yet, here is a link I found that might be helpful to those who want to repair it.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dye-Guy-Inc/201187096262

He's the "Dye Guy". I have no experience with them, but they do have a repaired 4Runner on their facebook wall (for the time being).

I've also heard of some companies reupholstering the dashboard with leather (with stitching on the corners and all!............. can't find the link though).

Another tid bit of info: Do not use petroleum based conditioners on the dash. Toyota apparently doesn't recommend it.

Anyone with the cracked dash using Armorall???

This is a known problem with this product...one reason I stay away from it or any product like it. Never had a cracked dash in any car I ever owned.

His page says it's a dash cap... meaning a piece of plastic that sits over the dashboard... not sure I like that approach as you now have a cheap piece of plastic instead of the soft-touch dashboard.

Your statement is true IF you are talking about the old amor all. It used to be based on some silicone formula, but has been reformulated. The bad rep is still lingering though. I use Meguiar's products. I'm happy with them.

Oh yes, you can't "patch job" the dashboard and not expect "seems" and signs of it being repaired. That would look bad. They apparently put on a new cover on the dash making it look seamless and professional. I wonder what they charge?

The color match doesn't look to good to me. I was wondering if you could fill in the crack and then use Plastic Dip to coat the whole thing. Plastic Dip seems to have a lot of elasticity to it. The biggest problem would be over-spray I guess.

I've seem some amazing work done by detailers. Checking with a good detail person may lead to some options. Probably wouldn't cost more than $50 for a repair.
