window Auto up/down feature

Do you think it's possible to buy 6 automatic up/down (like the one that controls the drivers side window) switches and replace the other window switches in the 4rnr?

Does anyone know if this would make the windows automated?

Since toyota automated the...

a. sunroof
b. back window
c. and the driverside window

how come they stopped there? This might be a mod worth trying.

do a search...this has been discussed before. IIRC, it was something to do with needing a new "window brain" or something... the auto up/down control feature (as most would suspect) is NOT in the actual switch but in a separate controller that controls all the windows for the car. a search will turn out the specifics and pictures, I think...

I looked into modifying the switches at one time too, but quickly gave up.

The Auto Up-Down is in the switch, it's controlled by a relay on the switch circuit board. The relay latches when you push the switch all the way down, and unlatches when it senses the amperage draw of the motor spike. (i.e. when it hits the top or bottom.)

The problem is, the panel is not made up of individual switches, the toggles just actuate switches that are on a common control board. You would have to try to figure out a way to add a relay to the control board for each switch that you wanted to add this feature to.

I have some digital pictures if you want to see what the board looks like without taking your door panel apart.

product that does this

I have installed a small relay sized product that does just this. I use it to automated the convertible top on my s2000 so i don't have to hold the button down. I have 2 extras that i bough to automate the windows but never installed. They are nib and I would sell for $25each plus shipping which is what i paid on a group buy. Or u could simply order once i post the name. works well and installs easily for auto control in both directions.
