On my 2007, If I recall correctly, the Fog and 12V outlets use exactly the same relays. So you you can swap if they are the same on your 2004 too.

I said "IF" you NEED to have high-beams on.

And I stand behind what I said.

IF you NEED them..then you are legally blind. And I truly mean that. There are many elderly people driving around at night with their high-beams on because they can't see without them. And they should turn in their drivers license because they are a danger to everyone else on the road.

Then there's the people who just have them on to be noticed. If there is no need then why have them on?? Driving with high-beams on or fog-lights when NOT needed are a menace to other drivers on the road. Most states actually laws against driving with high-beams on when there's on-coming traffic. And driving on the road with high-beams AND fog-lights when there's other vehicles on the road is a hazard to all the other drivers.

I think most of here would say that they ONLY use their high beams when no one else is around anyway. So, in that situation if they want their fogs on for fill light, so be it. Now we can argue if that fill light will mess with their long distance perception or not, but that is another story and it is safe to say that in this situation they wont be bothering other drivers with both on at the same time.

I did this mod because my fogs are HIDs (yellow in color to actually improve functionality) and didn't want them flashing off and on if I needed my high beams for any reason while I have my fogs on. And no, I'm not anywhere close to being legally blind... I don't even wear glasses. ;)

I live in the middle of nowhere, that's why I need as much light as possible. Animals are always running out in the road. Plus I have HID fogs and do not need to be turning them on and off with the brights.

So do I....closest street light is about 4 miles away. Deer all over the place...and even Moose. But I still don't need anything more then my high beams.

I performed Part 1 of this mod today and all is well thus far. I have a question about Part 2 though,...

I really don't want to purchase a big bag of the 3m squeeze connectors (qty. 100). Will the Tap-in Squeeze Connectors From Radio Shack work? They are part # 6403052. Blue in color. Pack of 10 for $2.79. Is this an adequate part swap instead of the 3m connector?

Also, on JA's mod, there are similar colored wires at pin 7 and pin 17 (red w/ green stripe). Is there a certain way to tell the position on the white connector to differentiate between the two pin wires?

I had part 1 and part 2 of this mod done. When I installed HID fogs I set part 1 back to factory as I like when I unlock the car it kicks the fogs on to warm up the HID's (I know that's not the intended purpose of the lights coming on, but it works). With part 1 of the mod done it only fired up the lows when I unlocked the car, fogs would come on upon vehicle ignition. Now my HID fog's are warmed to full output when I start driving and stay on when I high beam, I just can't have only fogs on, which is fine. Great, simple mods either way.

Finished up this mod yesterday. Works perfectly. Only difficult part of it was stripping the electrical tape away from the wiring harness to get to the wires.

The connectors (above) work just fine for this mod but you will need to cut the 'plug' / 'blockage' out of it with an Exact-o knife to make it a 'double-run' application. Mod took less than 10 minutes, if even that, to complete. Thanks for the help JA!

By getting the signal from the parking light, does that mean if all the lights, headlights and parking lights, are off but the fog light switch is in the on position, then the fog lights are still off?

I like that change. Could you explain what you did differently than J.A.'s write up? Thanks in advance. Pics always help.

Like Doozi confirmed, following the way the write up instructs functions exactly how Allegro is describing so I am not sure what he thinks is working differently.

But if you get the power from the parking light circuit, then the fogs will be off even if the fog switch is on when the parking lights are off...but will come on if the parking lights or headlights are on (and fog switched on).

Where do I jump the Fog light relay to in order to connect to the parking lights power?
