Post Fuse tap prongs

So here I have the heater relay that im to use to the mini fuse tap as described J.A.'s excellent writeup.

Since I have the limted where does the mini fuse tap go? To my understanding, and I quote "if you have a Limited and therefore an IG relay, you can obtain ignition activated 12V+ power at the 25amp seat heater fuse. Just substitute a mini fuse tap for the male disconnect" the two male ends of the fuse tap goes in where? In place of heater relay as I read?

First of all with a Limited you are still going to do this...
"Remove the fog light relay located in the engine room relay box and bend prong #2 so that it no longer inserts into its usual location."

BUT since you have a limited and therefore you have a relay in the IG socket you will not be running the other end of the wire to the IG socket or relay to obtain ignition activated 12V+.

Instead you will put the mini fuse tap onto the seat heater fuse. Put it onto the top most leg of the fuse.
Then crimp on a female disconnect to the wire coming off the fog light relay. then simply plug the female disconnect into the male side of the mini fuse tap sticking up out of the seat heater fuse.

Let us know how it goes.

I had to use an add-a-circuit:

Did it!

I was able to do part one in the mod and it works great no issues.
On part two, splicing the wires from pins 17 and 16 (I also tried 17 and 2 with same result) instead of high beam and fog, i get high beam and low beam and no fog. Has any had this issue, or know of someone who has when attempting this mod? I had to repair some wiring that was cut following body repairs by a previous owner just to get the right fog working, and I don't know if other wiring was tampered with previously so I may be SOL for high beams and fogs that work on the switch.

Low beams will be on when you turn on the high beams, so you should have all three lights on.

As explained by J.A., you're trying to keep the fog circuit grounded when you turn on the high beams. Pin 16 is the ground for the low and high beams. Pin 2 is the ground for the turn signals, should work in theory, but since 16 and 17 are right next to each other, it's easier with a 3M wire tap to connect the two.

I must have missed that somewhere. I couldn't get all three though, just lo/hi and fogs switched off when high beams activated. I also threw something off when using pin 2 in the turn signals. Time to back track and figure out what all is busted now haha. Thanks.

Noob here. Finished the Independent Fog Mod on Sunday. Then had no fogs Tuesday AM. Checked the fuse first, then inserted spare unbent relay and the fogs were back on. Found a loose connection at male quick-disconnect. Possibly the result of overzealous crimping.

Also did the 12V constant power mod. Thanks for the procedures J.A. Fantastic web page too!

I have a 2003 4Runner that didn't come with fog lights but has the wires for them. Is there a way to connect oem fog lights to come on without the fog light switch using the factory wiring? I would like them to be on when parking lights are turned on. I can order a new headlight switch for fogs but if I can get them to work without it I would rather go the route. I bought fog lights and a relay already just have to figure out how to get the lights to come on.

Toyota 4Runner Independent use of Fog Light Mod

Part 1 = same as described at above link.
Part 2, rather than connecting pin 16 and 17 together...connect pin 10 green w red stripe [this is the wire going to the negative side coil of the fog relay] to pin 14 solid green [this is output wire of the combination switch for tail lights going to the negative side coil of the tail relay].

Let us know how it worked.
