How much to sell ‘07 Sport for only 79K miles

We are getting ready to sell my wife’s 4Runner and trying to figure out what to ask. With the market being as crazy as it is, it’s hard to sort out. That and the fact that the miles are so low complicates things. We are the original owners and it is very clean and in great shape. The only drawback is that is is flashing the p0016 error code and might need a new timing chain even though it runs and drives perfectly.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

You can sell it for whatever someone is willing to pay on a particular day and a particular time, lol. Why do you say the market is crazy? Do you mean 4Runner prices in recent years?

Certainly that P0016 code needs to be looked at and fixed, because on the one hand you can get it fixed and advertise a pristine low miler to people looking for a Runner.

OTH if you don't get that flashing dash light fixed; a vulture is going to swoop in and tell you it's a serious issue and lowball you. You get to choose

I bought a 2006 Sport with the 4.7 V8. Had 180k on. PO but 60k highway on it. I paid more than I wanted to, but kind of needed a new vehicle and wanted something bigger.

I paid more than $15k for mine.... But I wanted the V8..

I would fix whatever is causing that error and put it up on one of the auction sites like Cars & Bids.
A 2009 V6 Limited with 55K miles sold for $29K just recently. Yours won't fetch that much but that gives you an idea.

Thanks for the tip. I’ve been debating the cost/benefit of the doing the repair since it will likely be over $2000, but I suspect it would payoff in the end.

Absolutely keep it, IF what you want is to keep it for a long service life. I'm staring down the barrel of a $1300 bill to have my rear pinion bearing fixed and was also wondering if it was worth it. After talking to 3 mechanics, they all recommended I do it only b/c "it's a 4Runner....... those things last forever". Anyway, as long as rust isn't part of the equation of keeping it, go for it!

well, fwiw, the MMR (=wholesale estimate) is ~$9k.

But I agree with fixing everything, making it a pristine specimen and auctioning for top $$$. Obviously it's a high reward gamble.

I bought my 2007 Sport V6 for slightly north of 11k back in June of 2020. 67k original miles give or take a few thousand. No real problems besides the infamous stuck TC actuator (the ol' "won't go into 4lo" because it was driven by a 60+ year old woman who never used it). This was towards the beginning of the COVID stuff so the used car market hadn't quite ascended to where it is now. I'm not positive how geographically dependent the market for 4th gens is, but mine was a Massachusetts vehicle (so maybe similar rust and corrosion factors to what might be seen in MN).

The body is very clean. There's some undercarriage rust. The wheels had corroded a bit as per usual for these, so I replaced them a year or so ago.

Sounds like you may have a golden unicorn there. Staying tuned to see what you end up doing.

Could you elaborate with photos as to what you mean by... "There's some undercarriage rust."..., the selling price of any T4R from the snow/salt belt is highly depended on what the frame looks like, it's hard for anyone to give you any accurate advice not knowing what the frame looks like, all the mechanical issues can be thought out and adjusted for but not the rust without seeing it!!!
