where to tap

I have 04 limited and everything is set for this mod, except there is no room to use the 25A seat header fuse with an add a tap, as the wire hits the closest relay so there is not room. Searched every other fuse that has enough room and they are ALL constant on, not ingition activated. Any other spots within that fuse box, or is there another add a circuit that has the wire in a different direction?

Anyone use the seat fuse with a limited?

I did on on my '03 Limited and yes it was a very tight fit. Just a little creative routing and just brute force i got it to fit just fine. I was afraid I was going to break something but so far it has held up fine. Sorry but I am still a moron and can't figure out how to post pics yet...

Thanks Ruthven. I followed your advice and decided to add some force. REALLY tight fit and the wire right at the block is now bent a hard 90 degrees, but it went in and works, so nothing broke. Thanks again. Headlights are nearly useless in heavy snowfall trying to get off a mountain (don't ask how I know). Fogs only should work great.

I would just keep an eye on it (I do). I was nervous at first that it wouldn't work just like you but I figured hey, how much can go wrong. The parts are cheap enough to replace if they broke. I just wouldn't move them unless I hd to just in case. Glad it worked out for you. Wish it ws a little neater but ya gotta go what you gotta do. Did you do the stage two of the mod? That part is really simple. I forget if you need a male blade connector for that or not. I noticed if it is loose if you give the end a very slight bend it fits nice and tightly...

So another noob here especially when it comes to electrical but for a limited and taping into 25amp seat heater fuse could I just use a mini fuse tap like this: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...rcuit-tap/545/ or am I far off and just need to use the taps and gauge wire?

Thanks in advance and sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead.

I just did this on my 04 Limited. On my first try, the prong broke off the relay when I bent it. So, $19 later from Autozone, I tried again. Works great.

I used a "Add a fuse" from Amazon into the seat heater fuse. It was a tight squeeze, but it just about works.

ok fog light mod experts....
check my logic here
2019 Electrical schematic attached

Looking at the 2019 diagram we can see that there is still an AND gate that only allows the fog light to receive power when

1) ECU PIN14 is at ground closing the TAIL relay
(AKA ECU senses that the Parking light or Headlights are powered on and then puts pin 14 at ground)
AND
2) ECU PIN 13 is at ground
AKA ECU senses that the fog light switch is the closed position.

Option 1)
Wire the pin on the FR FOG relay Coil that original goes to ECU PIN13 directly to the Fog light switch on the Switched ground side.
By using a relay tap on the relay pin and running a single wire through the main grommet on the fire wall to the fog light switch.

This would
Still allow one to control fog light on or off when the head lights are on likewise fogs would stay on even in hibeam mode.
You would still loose dash light indicator of fog light on/off

Option 2 the simplest MOD...MAYBE)
Wire FR FOG relay coil pin 13 directly to TAIL relay coil pin 14.

This would.
1) Have Fog lights come on and stay on if PARKING lights/or head lights are on regardless of hi/low beam position
2) believe this would result in a situation if you are running AUTO lights that DRLs would still work with Fogs being off while in DRL mode
3) fogs would auto illuminate if in AUTO the ECU decides to turn on headlights.
4) fog light switch would not control fog lights AKA fogs are controlled by headlight switch.

PROBLEM is ( motor off so one can hear relays close)
Sounds like the the tail relay ( TOWING TAIL marked relay) is in the under the hood fuse box; which would make sense since diagram shows 12+power coming in off of a junction connected to the alternator.

AND THE FRFOG RELAY is located behind the DASH....

There is the diagram of the wire setup to make this work to have independent fog lights /retain dash indicator/ retain auto lights/ retain auto off...

Reminder this setup requires that at least the parking lights to be switched to on

This is NOT FOG light on at any time.

To find the correct wires I used a test probe to find the +12V switched coming from the dimmer dial. ( blue doubled dashed line)

and the same probe to figure out the wire coming out of the ECU that is the power supply to the fog lights ( dashed red line)

Unhappy I guess I’m a moron too

Hey guys,
I’m struggling with part 2 of this mod. I didn’t do part one as I just want these for Off road usage while the lights are on. I made a mess of the wiring and clipped wires when I should t have and now am in a jam... my headlights and turn signals work but not my fogs and my headlights don’t auto shutoff now.... any help would be much appreciated.
I’m at a loss as where to go from here...

I had to add the blue wire as my red/green wire got too short.

I did this fog light mod a couple of years ago, but never took pics.

More recently, I added a second (third?) set of fog lights where ditch lights usually go.

The first pic shows all the lights on, DRLs off. The second pic shows just the OEM fogs and the DRLs on, low/high beams both off. My two sets of aftermarket fogs are wired together, and only work when the headlights are on. The PIAA offroad/white driving lights on the roof aren’t connected yet, but I have all the wiring/switches ready to go. That’s my next project after I get rid of all the surface rust on the chassis/undercarriage.
